Rasputin and the Empress
Grigori Rasputin was a corrupt cleric who was accused of raping a nun, excessive drinking, and being power hungry. His influence on members of the Russian Imperial family, and of others in the aristocracy or otherwise in positions of power or authority, was unprecedented and troubling.

Rasputin is one of the most interesting people in the world during the early 20th Century. He was also one of the most enigmatic and contradictory. A holy man who was accused of raping a nun, excessive drinking, and being power hungry. Barrymore's portrayal of Rasputin plays this up, plus making claims that he will be Russia. He seems almost like Charles Manson at times in the way he can make someone, especially the Czarevitch, behave like they are totally different people compared to the way they acted before meeting Rasputin. . (gb) wrote: Ugh, as a Reds fan I will always keep my fingers crossed that Rose makes it into the Hall of Fame. This movie was just as shallow as Charlie Hustle himself. It made a profit off of his downfall. Sizemore was actually quite good as Rose and probably just as bad as he was off the screen. His hair was just as frightening as the real Pete Rose's too.

(it) wrote: My Darling Clementine (1946)This movie has absolutely nothing to do with what actually happened at the OK Corral in Tombstone, but it is a very entertaining movie, all the same. The photography is very shadowy; like some kind of a film noir western. Linda Darnell is so beautiful as the latina, Chihuahua, that you look at Doc Holiday (Victor Mature) and wonder how he could possibly walk away from that for straight-laced Clementine (Cathy Downs); the girl from his past.Walter Brennan was so evil as old man Clanton, that I never looked at Grandpa Amos McCoy the same again. Bill Clanton (John Ireland) was very smarmy fooling around with Chihuahua when Doc Holiday wasn't looking. And, Henry Fonda, was just Henry Fonda. He's played this same character many times and it just fits with what we would think is Wyatt Earp. The rest of the town characters came right out of John Ford's casting list as well as the Monument Valley background, which Tombstone is a long long way from. Still this is an excellent movie and I highly recommend it.
