Without spoiling anything, due to the nature of how this movie starts as any other horror movie, it's naturally plagued with cliches. Although this may have been the aim, that doesn't make it any easier to sit through. The movie does partly redeem itself however with an amazing final twist.

Patrick F (jp) wrote: All but insufferable until Albert Brooks's character comes into the picture, and then it becomes...I don't know, pleasant? It's a movie with a lot of problems, but Albert Brooks is terrific in it, as he is in everything.

Allan C (mx) wrote: Solid Jackie Chan Hong Kong action film. This definitely falls into the Americanized category of his Hong Kong films, but it's still better than most American martial arts and action films, even if it's not as good as some of Jackie's earlier films, like "Police Story" or "Drunken Master".

Glen O (nl) wrote: The Preacher With No Name rides into town to defend a small band of hard scrabble miners against a corrupt mining magnate who wants to run them off. Part Shane, part Sergio Leone, and all Eastwood, this is a stylish Western with all the right ingredients. Here and there the dialogue is corny but overall this was a good Western with its heart in the right place.

Ray S (it) wrote: Mildly entertaining. More because of the 1970s setting than the actual story.

Ryan V (us) wrote: Princess Ann (Audrey Hepburn) is feeling overwhelmed by her duties as a monarch and elects to play hooky in Rome during a goodwill tour. She blunders into the clutches of a journalist (Gregory Peck) who sees her as the ticket to a juicy (and lucrative) headline, but things go in a direction that neither figure anticipated. Roman Holiday plays into a number of romantic comedy tropes, but it subverts genre cliches just as often as it exploits them (The ending takes a relatively more nuanced and believable tone when it could've easily gone for the tacky, trite, and crowd-pleasing route that a lazier movie would've happily taken). However, despite the intelligent and witty screenplay, Roman Holiday's finest asset is in the understated and affected facial acting of both Hepburn and Peck; they are critically effective at projecting the senses of desire, responsibility, and vulnerability found in their respective characters.
