(us) wrote: This is the most beautiful film in terms of cinematography and sentiment. It's slow - as befitting the story of a man travelling 300 miles by lawnmower - but mesmerising and very rewarding. By the end, you feel like you have had a spiritual journey of your own. Richard Farnsworth gives a wonderfully nuanced performance as Alvin Straight. And Angelo Badalamenti's music just tops it all off perfectly.

(de) wrote: Exuberant and funny light-hearted follow up to the serious drama 'Smoke'; a real declaration of love to Brooklyn, with even a few real-life interview snippets mixed with fictional, often improvised vignettes of neighbors and deadbeats hanging at the smoke shop (including many amazing cameos, especially Michael J. Fox and his list of possibly the best survey questions ever!)

Vinny (Perci) is the relative/sort-of-lawyer called in to help his nephew (Macchio) who's on trial for murder. It's good fish-out-of-water stuff & Mona (Tomei) is good, if dressed ridiculously throughout! Fast-paced and fun, if not always hilarious, a good film.

(us) wrote: Misty Copeland is interesting, but this film is not. The cinematography is bad, the editing is worse. Clearly the filmmakers had no access to the space or people at ABT. There's no story. It's too bad -- clearly the filmmaker had great access to Ms. Copeland, but he just didn't know what to do with it. There's nothing here. The dancing isn't even that interesting. I'd skip it if I were you.
