Would this movie examine a sympathetic yet wayward guy who doesn't take anything seriously, himself, or women; was it, like the trailer threatened, a movie about young/first/confused love; or was it a movie about a young girl in the throes of an abusive relationship? Not really. Turns out this was, in a really understated and seemingly opaque way, a movie about a young man discovering self-worth, and ultimately overcoming his father's influence. A common coming of age, but not really obvious until you watch it to the end. The film isn't emotionally chronological, because emotion and feeling don't manifest linearly; with that said, once you reach the end, it becomes clear that it's not really a love story, rather a coming of age set to the backdrop of a romance.

The film makes clear that issues have been lost in quest to master a form that has more in common with reading viagra side effects then real world issues. It also showed the heavy upper class bias in debate. The films only real flaw was perhaps thinking squirrel case ( an arguement that dodges the real issue) much more insightful then it really was. I did also take minor issue with the fact that the film never made clear that there was more then one debate style or league, not everyone does LD.
Michael S (nl) wrote: For a high concept action thriller for this to be effective, it needs (1) impressive visuals, (2) some crazy/cool futuristic touches, and (3) some smart social commentary. "Gamer" has none of these. At the end, villain Michael C. Hall lip syncs Sammy Davis Jr.'s "I've Got You Under My Skin." I wish the rest of the film had that level of campiness. It's just awful.

Jacob L (gb) wrote: P.U is that a Horrible Movie I smell completely destroying my favorite female character from my favorite comic book hero franchises? It sure the hell is! First of all, this Catwoman is completely unrelated to the comic character Selina Kyle except in costume and her alter ego name, second, this movie is absolutely awful and deserves the top place on my list of being the worst comic book movie ever made. The chemistry between the two love interests(Berry and Benjamin Bratt ) is about as intimate as a one night stand it's so non-existent that you can't believe for a second that these are two romantically involved characters. And third the movie is just boring at least with Batman and Robin it was entertainingly bad, this just gives me no satisfaction what so ever. The only satisfaction I get is looking at Halle Berry and that gets old after the first ten minutes we see her in the costume. The costumes, sets and the overall look of the movie are great, but what good is that when the characters and story are severely inadequate? The answer is that it isn't good at all. 1/5 stars
