A woman and three men. Nina, who's come to Paris to act and sleeps with any man at hand, meets Paulot, a young estate agent; he's smitten. She also meets Paulot's flatmate Quentin, a compulsive who stalks her. To Paulot's jealous dismay, she's willing to sleep with Quentin, and wants Paulot's friendship. After a desperate act by Quentin, Nina and Paulot share a flat, but she still won't take him as a lover; instead, her energy goes into a production of "Romeo and Juliet" directed by a detached, intense man who becomes her father figure. Quentin's ghost taunts her, Paulot wants to end all contact, and the director plans to return to London. The art of the theater may be her only refuge.

Thomas B (es) wrote: Beautifully shot with an incredible turn from Carey Mulligan, this is an effective and moving story. Full review later.

Justin B (au) wrote: One of those fantastically awful missfires that the 90's was known for. The story is muddled the action is underwhelming and the production value is consistently inconsistent. However one thing I have to stand by is that Pam Anderson should be in no way condemned for her poor acting considering Steven Seagal is a far more cardboard action star and he doesn't have Pam's *ahem* assets.

Directors C (ag) wrote: "The Daleks" was a serial from the most popular BBC series that is an absolute television classic. Doctor Who and the Dalkes is unfortunately inferior. There isn't any deep development into the character of The Doctor in this film. Each and every doctor has its own unique personality. I didn't feel it though in this film. The action sequences dont really excite and I couldn't really find myself caring about what happens to his companions in this adaption.

It starts slow (but necessary, you need to understand the relationships and how they change), and builds to a tense finale. The film is brutal at times and i understand the complaints that the film is too slow, but I didn't find this an issue as I found the pace intriguing and tense as I felt the stress building. Great performances. Good film.
