Paul K (jp) wrote: Unashamedly French culturally, but Hollywood feelgood stylistically, this tale of family dynamics is largely comic, with superficially meaningful relationships played out against a backdrop of Provencal tourist attractions. Jean Reno and Anna Galiena both do a great job in preventing the film from being completely inauthentic. Provence and the Camargue are beautiful, so this was nice easy viewing Saturday night fare. Far from profound, however, with quite a few excruciating moments. The oldies sitting around in the evening singing 'Forever Young' springs to mind ....

Mario C (nl) wrote: A very touching and emotional moving story about finding that reincarnated guru. I was surprised about how the child acted so adult at times and remembered his previous life. i liked the emotional parts and resonated within me too!

Tim R (es) wrote: Bunraku's story isn't anything special but it's got style. It even effectively uses what budget it has to great effect creating an interesting visual style that plays off of one of the characters love of pop-up books. It's really just a martial arts noir film with a plot primarily designed to lead from one fight to the next but I was entertained and amused consistently. It's not high art but its pretty fun.

Mr Movie R (mx) wrote: The surplus number of flashbacks is the last thing this movie needed, right next to it's lack of plot.

Stephanie G (au) wrote: Despite the lack of plot and how it seems so normal to adopt a mouse as a son, I think this movie goes beyond that. It's touching and it's simply about love, family, belonging and tolerance.

jwasu r (de) wrote: i give it 4 because it could have been so much worse. I think what I like the most is that this film doesn't even attempt to entertain in a conventional way. It's so personal, it feels like we're eavesdropping on S. Soderbergh's thoughts.

Tom H (it) wrote: An epic film with a interesting story regarding the city of khartoum. The battle sequences was great and really took me by surprise. Heston plays "chinese Gordon", a man renowned for accomplishing great feats with nothing but his own wisdom. I could have svorn the musical score was by John Williams, but it is a man named Cordell who is the composer for this film. the two seem to have similar styles of music, at least from what i could hear in this film.I highly recommend this film for fans of old school epics.05.04.2011,12.03.2016
