Report to Mother
The story revolves around the incidents following the death of a young Naxalite, upon whose death his friends travel to the village where his mother lives to inform her of the death of her only son. Amma Ariyan is considered to be a complex movie. Since its release in 1986, critics have read several layers of meaning in its story. The film was the only South Indian film to feature in British Film Institute's Top 10 Indian Films list.

(au) wrote: This movie has some good, funny, dramatic scenes, but for the rest of the movie it's predictable, boring, and unfunny. I'm not sure that Reynolds and Hawn made a good team in this movie either. The rest of the cast was good, and very realistic, but the two of them not so much. This movie starts to get dull and feels long by about the middle of the film. I wouldn't recommend it unless you are a big fan of one of them.

Set in the midst of Mussolini's Italy, we follow the story of Marcello, a confused enigma of a man who wants so badly to be 'normal' that he becomes a reluctant assassin for the fascists. For strikingly composed sequences, look at the climactic murder that takes place in a snow-covered forest

(br) wrote: The structural integrity of the films plot in Black Knight isn't sensible since it makes less sense the more you try to think about it, particularly the llending which just causes massive confusion, and essentially it's a plot lazily constructed to serve as a starring vehicle for Martin Lawrence, and it isn't the freshest idea for a film since really it's all been done before.Plus, the jokes are fairly repetitive and don't introduce anything new while rather merely rehashing many Martin Lawrence jokes from all of his other films, and essentially a boring script and lacklustre direction from Gil Junger in the comedy department leaves him to fend on his own in a comedy that without him, would essentially be more bland and empty than it already is.But Black Knight was a film that aired repeatedly on TV as I was growing up so I grew somewhat attached to. Watching it now doesn't have the same effect, but nevertheless I still enjoyed it to a certain extent.Basically, I enjoyed the childish theme of Martin Lawrence against the backdrop of a medieval time. I enjoyed it still now, albeit significantly less. One of the things I liked was the fact that the setting was convincing due to decent costumes and set pieces, and it really set a valid mood for the medieval time the story takes place in. And the entire fact that the fish out of water plot consists of a stereotypical and occasionally funny Martin Lawrence placed in the setting proves to be a general entertaining story. And the visual aesthetic of the story is well lit and strongly colourful which makes the atmosphere appealing to kids, and it's so easy to watch. The main thing is that there is merely a sense of fun to be had watching Black Knight, and the childish tone with the themes of comedy and mild action make it a pleasant watch.Basically, Black Knight isn't a special film, but it's fun and really easy to watch, and was one I enjoyed growing up with. But it was better then than now.
