Andrew B (gb) wrote: This is so bad. If you can find this, get it. It's incredibly bad. It's so bad, I want to hug this movie. Rosie seems to be making fun of retarded people the entire time. This should be called "Why Retards Shouldn't Have Sex". I cannot believe this movie was made. Who, in the name of hell, would fund this piece of shit? Yes folks, this is a modern day Plan 9.

Jacob B (fr) wrote: A disappointing not-conclusion to the Rocky franchise, Sylvester Stallone's performance as the titular character is still oddly compelling but that can't save the film from the fact that it departs from its predecessors. It follows a generic plot where Rocky claims that he will always be there for his son but this is ironic as he neglects his son most of the time in favour of another dude up to the point where his son finally makes him realize his mistake. If this was a spin-off called "Tommy Gunn" or something like that, it would've been decent. But no, the filmmakers just decided to slap on "Rocky V" on that in an attempt to make money. In fact, the film resorts to street-fighting in the climax with further salt being rubbed in the wound with Sly's last-minute decision not to kill Rocky. At least, we get the 2006 movie and the 2015 sorta-spin-off Creed out of the bargain. The weakest of the Rocky movies to date. You know it's bad when the montage isn't even as compelling as those from the previous movies and the soundtrack not as hummable. Sorry, Elton.

James H (es) wrote: 77/100. It's an enjoyable film, good performances, especially from Christine Lahti, Fred Ward and Ed Harris. The period detail is a mixed bag, sometimes it's great, other times it misses the mark. Great music and a good bit with Belinda Carlisle. One of Holly Hunter's earliest roles, and she does well. I was always entertained and was never bored. The chemistry between Kurt Russell and Goldie Hawn is quite evident.

John R (ag) wrote: 141018: Fascinating and educational movie. Motivated me to look into the history of bondwomen. The rivalry between David (William Holden) and Jim (Robert Mitchum), and their treatment of Rachel (Loretta Young), makes for a thought provoking film. As a matter of fact, the interaction of all the characters (including Davey) makes for a wonderful story. Slavery, not a proud piece of North American history, but one that I feel is all too common even in today's world. Features some great acting. Found the portrayal of the First Nation representatives truly intimidating; of course, that brings up another moral issue. Happy ending for one of the better, and meaningful, early westerns I've seen.
