Bruce J (us) wrote: This was probably one of the most honest films I have ever seen about the (im)possilbity of keeping a long relationship from falling into the depths of boredom and stagnancy. I've felt these feelings. I've said these things. It was remarkably funny and heartbreaking. It was so very Jewish and New York. It was Woody Allen before Woody Allen. I'm not sure what I mean by that. That last scene...
Jo A (au) wrote: The helpless, love-struck women in lingerie being brutally murdered is so unbelievable that I found myself laughing at the absurdity of these characters, and saying out loud "Yeah, right!". The book might have been better, but the film is just, well, it's just stupidly misogynistic and gratuitous. Waste of time.
Martijn M (mx) wrote: As a group of gay male friends meets over the course of three weekend at one of the man's lakeside retreats, the spectre of AIDS and the fallibility of relationships seem to outline a pitchblack scenario. Nonetheless, the dark undertone of this movie, which so hauntingly outlines the minutae of these gay men's entangled lives, is relieved by the love, valour and compassion that Terrence McNally's original play title so fittingly refers to. Acted out by a little-known, but superbly acting cast, the eight men, all, despite - or perhaps because of -, their obvious flaws, make a strong emotional impact and invite to reflexivity.

Billie B (ca) wrote: This was one of those disposable, fall-asleep-to movies for me late last night on cable (TCM -- they even left the f-word in). It's quite a strange, plain-life look at a highly neurotic man and the hapless girlfriend he emotionally tortures. I did love the glimpse of a high-strung George Kennedy -- a decade before I knew him on "Dallas" -- playing himself acting in a "space picture." The requisite late-'70s-early-'80s fashions were cool, too, which is often enough reason for me to watch a film from that era!
Jane L (kr) wrote: It's a clich (C)d made-for-TV movie that somehow was released to theaters, but I love it. Sue me. The performances are all good, and the characters are compelling enough to make FREEDOM WRITERS watchable. It inspired me when I was twelve and it still inspires me today.

Well...what a pity, because on a movie like this I surely had some interesting thoughts, and considering I write this reviews more for me than for the others, it's bad I didn't put them on paper. Anyway, an incredible sci-fi movie, with a story that you will surely enjoy if you like the genre.
