However Rigsby's favorite lodger, miss Jones, now flirts with both boys rather then the old goat, despite his pitiful attempts to be generous. Crossed by her still overprotective dad, she actually prefers an affair with slick veteran Seymour, who is really only interested in her money

(br) wrote: Absolutely brilliant movie! Forget its "horror" genre, in bare bones it's really a comedy + drama set in a zombie infested world. Zombies are just a staging area here. Somehow Jeremy Gardner made this movie on $6,000 budget and it's one of the best movies I've seen. Somehow it connects with you and at the same time disconnects from the rest of reality. Mix of down to Earth folks with everyday problems in a zombie world without any fake "action", pathetic heroism, and usual zombie cliche works its magic. God, how could I donate this guy some money so he can make another awesome movie?

Add a somewhat over the top performance by the lovely Reiko Aylesworth and my heart beats faster. The story has tension that builds and a twist that isn't too hard to see coming; I enjoyed it enough to give it a passing grade.

This movie is like a really long, really bad episode of Buffy so maybe they should rename it Puffy the Vampire Slayer or something.

(mx) wrote: Christine Lahti was young once upon a time... I'm not sure how did this film get to me as much as it did. It might be because it was made before Tarantino made any of his movies, when special effects were reserved for Science Fiction films and movie making was all about the script and the acting. Maybe it's because I'm used to watching films with subtitles (English is not my mother tounge) and with my attention on the subs some details of the films I watch might just slip by. I'm thinking, it's a brilliant movie. Yes, that must be it.

(de) wrote: How do children grow and live under the shadow of their parents' own unhappiness, even if the unhappiness is in the name of "true love"? When the victims are bounded by their social obligations (such as being a parent), do their suffering count in the altar of "true love"? This is a melancholy contemplation of the damages and pollutions carried through previous generation's actions. The three major actors all performed with sincerity and skill. There is no villain, just human frailty and blindness of our own desire and consequences.
(ru) wrote: Pretty great. It has some of Sirk's most complex and baroque visuals. It's breezy at 90mins and as a piece of visual story-telling is brilliant.
(de) wrote: Great use of documentary filming and a great idea for what I believe is the funniest movie of 2015 and maybe on the top 50 list for best comedies/movies of the 2010s. I love the use of tired tropes and cliches for original laughs and the use of being vampire in a new light. "A-" is my final grade
