Gregory W (kr) wrote: all star cast really brings this p g wodehouse story to life about a father & son who find themselves rivals for the same girl.

Tori B (kr) wrote: A lack lustre retelling of the Joseph story, there seems to be no relationship between Joseph and his Brothers, therefore there is no reason for the audience to care for these characters or the plot. Even without comparing it to the Prince of Egypt this film still wouldn't be able to stand on it's own. in uninspiring, dull, sappy, and i was bored to tears.

Russ B (mx) wrote: 8/23/2016: A decent and entertaining film. The cast was good and provided some good laughs.

Angel R (fr) wrote: This was better than I thought it would be. Definitely not the typical vampire movie. It is a bit slow, and there is a tragic element to its love story. I did not rate it higher mostly for the slow pace, and I did wish the ending had been different. An additional appeal to me, as a librarian, were the scenes in the library. I would not mind working in a place like that.

Paul C (kr) wrote: Very average film, but too few laughs to be classed as a comedy. DeVito and Keitel are decent as usual, but Piscopo is a real weak link - as surprisingly enough is DePalma's flat direction.

Curtis D (br) wrote: Meanders in a good way with no real plot to speak of. Watch Elliott Gould and George Segal discover friendship through their shared addiction...gambling. A lot of 70's cool and overlapping dialogue a la Altman. This film was going to be made by Spielberg but he passed. This is one of those films I would want if I were stranded on a desert island.

Tim S (jp) wrote: I'm not a fan of Jess Franco's work and I can hardly recall anything of his that I've seen that I didn't find either boring or interesting. Such is the case with The Female Vampire, which is a quasi-horror film about a mute countess roaming the countryside and having sex with her victims in order to suck out their life force, or something. While there is some atmosphere, there is really no story. The movie contains very graphic nudity, as well, especially the NC-17 version. Lina Romay is beautiful and has a gorgeous body, but I kind of wanted more of a story from this. It just seems like an idea dreamed up by a 13 year old kid to me. It's certainly easy on the eyes, but other than that, there's just nothing to it.

Thomas E (kr) wrote: One of my favourite westerns about the quintessential silent man forced into violence by circumstances.

Grant S (mx) wrote: Was there anything James Cagney could not do? Well known as a crime-drama actor, here he sings, dances and delivers some incredibly funny lines, to great effect.I had never heard of George M Cohan before, though after watching the movie I find it hard to believe that I hadn't. Thus, I watched this with low initial interest, thinking it is just another musical (and I generally dislike musicals). The interest for me was to see how James Cagney fares in a musical.Turns out it is much more than a musical. It is a great biopic, with the story of the life of George M Cohan very well told. Most biopics some across as dry History Channel documentaries - this was nothing like that. The scene sequence is innovative, the dialogue very fresh, snappy and often funny, the music entertaining. I even liked the dancing (very rare for me!). Despite being over two hours long, the movie moves at a very fast pace. Not a dull moment at all.As mentioned, James Cagney is superb in the lead role, and well deserved his 1943 Best Actor Oscar (his only Oscar, it would turn out). Well supported by Walter Huston and Joan Leslie, and the remainder of the cast.Only negative is that it is a tad jingoistic. Then again, it was produced in 1942, thus was made as a US war propaganda movie, as the US had just entered World War II.
