Ian R (ca) wrote: This film is generally "accurate" in its consistency with how the lunar missions were carried out, in terms of proper NASA-speak and spacecraft layout. However, these two things by themselves are so heavily relied upon to carry out the story that it becomes mechanical and plodding to anyone not already deeply learned in the Apollo missions. This film has a good idea behind it, with solid fears rising from being stranded on the moon, abandonment in secrecy by the government running the operation, being overrun by mysterious elusive creatures, to the hopes of returning home only to have them dashed completely.Unfortunately, its execution was more than lackluster, with hurried character development and unnecessarily lengthy suspense-building for relatively boring outcomes.Worth a watch for fans of early spaceflight, not so much otherwise.

Amy Jade S (us) wrote: Nice little gem of a film... good portrayal of small-town politics which culminates into a good old-fashioned class struggle. Nick Stahl's gloomy face was well-chosen and Norman Reedus manages to balance just enough sleaze and humanity to make you wonder if there really are any "bad guys" in this story. Laura Benanti was a surprising powerhouse as the grieving, enraged mother. Yup, she made me cry. Worth seeing, more than once.

Rosemary R (ca) wrote: Brad Johnson in this movie is my ideal for a partner (so so handsome). He gave me hope again. He makes it look real. Melissa Gilbert isnt worthy as an actress in this part at all. I could never get past her bad accent. I would recommend this movie ONLY to watch Brad Johnson to remind all of us females how it is suppose to be.

Kristen P (us) wrote: Robin Williams was one of my favorite actors and this is definitely one of his best performances. The score was lovely and I know a ton of people that love this movie. I just felt that for me, it was a bit too cheesy and 'on the nose' (yeah I went there).

David M (kr) wrote: Heaven is a quietly profound meditation on love, justice, and morality. A thinkers thriller, that sidesteps tension for thought, and dialogue for silence. Heaven revels in paradox; is it morally wrong to commit a sin to bring about good consequences? From there the story flows. That is the opening, what follows is an interrogation heavy second act, and a moody poetic third act. Interestingly the tone is maintained, and what is created is a singular vision, where everything meshes.Phillipa leaves a bomb in a building to kill a man. Things don't go as planned, and 4 innocents end up dead. She was prepared to sacrifice her life for justice, this man was responsible for her husband and students death, now she has committed evil in order to stop it. Her grief is staggering. While being interrogated a young cop falls in love with her. He helps her escape. She only agrees so that she can kill the man, she doesn't want to escape punishment. Killing him is atonement for the death of 4 innocents on top of the revenge quotient. The young cop, Fillipo, escapes from the city with her. He tells her that he loves her. He looks at her with such longing, and assuredness. The type of love which needs to reason or explanation, something felt so deeply and completely he feels at one with her.And by the end they do seem to be one. With both of their heads shaved, and wearing te same clothes. With few words spoken between them, and none directly about what they feel, you believe it. When you have given up your life for another, what greater love can there be? It needs no words, because words wouldn't do the feeling justice.Cate Blanchette is phenomenal. She is perhaps the finest actress of this generation. She has such power, and is compelling, while playing her character straight. She never milks a scene, or tried to evoke a response. She is natural and resolute. Giovanni Ribisi is also one of the most underappreciated character actors around. His performance is subtle and restrained, and remarkably perfected. The ending is poetic, but allows te characters to sidestep their penance foe their crimes, they've killed a man together, and she an extra four. Does falling in love grant you asylum from your sins? As they float up, you wonder how high they can go, before the weight of their past drags them down.

Reece L (us) wrote: Employee of the Month is a cheap Office Space knockoff that simply exists, devoid of laughs and filled with severely unlikable characters. The conduit through which the audience is meant to relate to the film's idiocy is played by Dane Cook, a man who couldn't be more unsympathetic if he tried, and the love interest is played by Jessica Simpson, a woman who demonstrates repeatedly throughout that she has no business in this line of work and never creates a character complete enough to serve its purpose. None of the performers behave in particularly funny ways, none of the "satire" feels compelling, and the filmmaking is never anything greater than that of the average sitcom (there are at least four montages set to late 2000s punk-rock songs, for example), all of this in service of a stale, formulaic central narrative that grows tiresome after the first half hour. Employee of the Month is godawful in its mediocrity, so crushingly banal, so blandly inert that it becomes depressing, lifeless, and altogether miserable to sit through.
