The charm of its leads extends into the filmmaking as well, offering homages to countless 50s films and filmmaking styles. Add in a delightful score and eye-popping production design, and it's basically irresistible.
Joe J (au) wrote: Based on an actual event...sorry if I laugh at that statement, as there's been tons of cheap horror flicks that are 'based on actual events.' The funniest thing about this movie is that the movie doesn't even center around the poor hapless girl who's being possessed, but on the supporting characters. Her father is a psycho who thinks his wife is cheating on him...her mother is addicted to pills...her own priest has had a thing for her older sister for years and they've even had sex! While he's trying to execute the demon out of her! Totally wack. Totally, totally wack.

Melissa G (gb) wrote: The "relationships" were frustrating, they seemed hollow and flat. The characters were so angry with one another with no real reasons why. Sure, families have resentments and frustrations, but this movie played way too much on the jealous sister, angry free thinking daughter, "trapped" wife. Way frustrating, especially with such an amazing cast.
