Ryan P (kr) wrote: A quiet, hypnotic love story by Kim Ki-duk. It's something close to a miracle how the 2 lead actors were able to create authentic chemistry between themselves without uttering a single spoken word (well, the majority of it was unspoken anyway), and without it ever being dull. It's also a testament to Ki-duk's direction, which was much like his work in ''Spring, Summer, Fall, Winter... and Spring'': fabulous. You really have to admire his subtlety of moving the camera, how he shows us the tiniest of details, how he creates the most breathtaking of shots (like that kiss at the end). The score matches it for excellence. I was loving where the film was taking me, but where it finally ended up left me (kinda) bewildered. I'm not going to say it was awful, but a repeat viewing is definitely in order here for that (disjointed?) third act. All in all, it's a beautiful piece of work that deserves a lot more attention from movie geeks.

Rebecca H (it) wrote: A beautiful and very sweet movie. Corny and awkward at parts, but it's your traditional man/woman romance story but with gay men instead. The fact that they're gay never sparks any hate from any characters in the film, which is so refreshing. The main characters are all middle aged men, and it's so incredible to watch an LGBT movie that isn't centered around young white gay boys who are closeted and have to experience constant homophobia from their small town. It's almost a complete reversal of that kind of movie, where a gay man goes back to his home town and finds it's what he wanted and needed all along. It's an idyllic fantasy of a town that doesn't exist, but should. An instant favorite and I highly recommend.
