Nate J (nl) wrote: So, this movie isn't the worst horror movie I've ever seen. But let's start with the bad. First, and I feel most importantly, the character Bluey is ridiculous. No one on this planet speaks like that, it's just plain irritating. But second, this movie just feels like it takes a long time for a predictable ending and kind of made me just feel like "fuck it, what was the point?" The point is slightly clearer when you realise Jaime Winstone is in this movie. Success story number one. Next up, three of the deaths are actually decent (I wouldn't say unique, but definitely not overdone). I am a little pissed off that the movie ends the way it does, it does feel like a let down. But as I said previously, certainly not the worst film in existence.

Music was awesome and the pacing though a bit slow was really great too. Great movie, easily recommended to anyone with a beating heart. I can understand the criticism that it is pointless, but if you ignore it and just watch it, you'll find it compelling.

Leena L (mx) wrote: I really liked this film when I first saw it in theater back in 1999. However, on the second go I was amazed about the fact that the men were jsut cycling along the beautifull eastern border area. Beautiful images, but not that much happening.

Raji K (au) wrote: As the previous film states, humans lose their cat and dog like pets and take onto apes as pets in their stead. This leads to the treatment of them as slaves. This film denotes this segment of the timeline in the storyline. The main ape is the spawn of the apes from the previous film and becomes known as Caeser. He fights for ape justice and leads a revolution. Conquest of the Planet of the Apes is one of the films that inevitably going to be made made in the series. It should be one of the most entertaining films in the franchise, but it was pretty standard. The movie has some good moments, but the series is clearly on a decline.

Andy B (ca) wrote: 3.5-If there was any doubt after making The Master as to whether PT Anderson was moving away from more linear plots/storytelling to the more abstract this movie helps cement it. Just taking on a Pynchon novel is evidence enough. I haven't read the book so I was diving in naked here. Initially it seems to be a simple story about a PI trying to find someone but it quickly becomes rather confusing and something seemingly deeper. For the first 90 minutes I thought the film was brilliant. From the characters to the dialog (especially the humor) to the whole general atmosphere of the movie it was enjoyable. Then it kinda bogged down on me as PT tried to fill in some gaps that were missing from the backstory of the main character and I honestly started checking my watch as to when the film would wrap up. Perhaps its my own failing for feeling this way but it could just be the difficulty of translating the source material here. I am curious how the book handled everything. Fortunately the film ended quite satisfyingly I just wish the whole thing was maybe 20 min shorter, some parts felt a little drawn out to me. This is likely a film I need another viewing with which is how I've felt about most PT Anderson films.
