Jon J (kr) wrote: If you've heard anything about this early film from Kim Ki-Duk, it's probably that he filmed it in three hours with no retakes. After seeing it, I'd probably bet that he wrote in three minutes with no attempts at a rewrite. The filming concept is interesting, but the whole thing just comes off as pretty amateurish. If you're a Kim Ki-Duk fan, I guess it's sort of worth checking out, just don't expect Spring, Summer, Fall, Winter... and Spring.

John M (ag) wrote: This film is one of the best/worst films of all time. I almost pissed my pants when I saw this film listed here. This film, and the sequel, are both barrels of laughs. -1/2 for poor camera work. Rent it at Fat Catz

Rob M (kr) wrote: Genuinely keeps you intrigued while putting you in some awfully compromising situations. With the combination of the unique story-line and an ambiance of an abandoned island occupied with a decrepit unlit farmhouse, anyone who deems this unworthy should probably stop watching horror movies.

Harpreet S (us) wrote: Very good film by Eisenstein, I loved the first part. Nikolay Cherkasov was outstanding as Ivan, I loved his portrayal of Ivan more than the film itself. A must watch, even though it is not WOW.
