Arj G (nl) wrote: Was this produced by a year 9 High School media group? Terrible, thinly veiled plot only made worse by youtube level acting and similar "special" effects. Treat Williams as the leading man amidst a sea of rubber looking and moving dinosaurs makes me think this movie should have gone the way of the Dinosaurs. Maybe don't watch alone as you'll need viewing company to try and create your own enjoyment. 0 stars.

I wished for more movies like this to pass the time. Entertaining, oh so entertaining, and a nice allegory about people, history and life and love. Superb cinematography, an amazing score, and great characters and acting. The silences and lack of a great amount of speech were appealing too: it seemed to sit well with this village and its way of life. Temelko's contraptions were a highlight [if not one of them giving a 'Yikes!' moment] too.All in all rather good fun and touching at the same time.
Andrew C (jp) wrote: Cool alien movie. Felt more like a thriller, as a group of people are trapped in a house in the middle of no-where dealing with alien creature. Alien wasn't bad looking, the ship-shot at the end was a pretty cool design. Overall the movie had kind of the same feel as "Splinter". So if you are looking for a suspenseful alien movie check it out.

EQ R (gb) wrote: It's a shame that due to the time the movie was made, that filmmakers were trying to imitate the style of "The matrix" and others like it. Due to this, Jet Li's style of fighting is not properly displayed with the overuse of special effects and such that hinder the authentic look of the fighting. With the films brisk running time of about an hour and twenty minutes, the film speeds by and wastes no time getting to the action, but only when it's done right. I'm not convinced Li was the right choice to lead the film but he makes it entertaining nonetheless with a early Jason Statham along side of him. Overall, entertaining at times but more of a time waster than anything. The last scene was one of the best parts. C-

Ben L (au) wrote: 101 Dalmatians is an interesting film in the history of Walt Disney Animation Studios. You can see a clear difference in the visual look of this first film from the 1960s, and all those that came before. A number of new techniques were used, so the animation looks much different, and there were not many songs in this one. Luckily, I feel the story still held up to Disney standards. Perhaps it helps that I am a dog lover, but 101 Dalmatians warms my heart every time I watch it. The characters they create throughout this film are all so endearing. I love the different animals that help out Pongo and Perdita along the way, and the different methods they use to escape are hilarious and fun. But the real breakout performance in this movie came from Betty Lou Gerson who voiced Cruella De Vil and created a legendary Disney villain. She is so amazingly evil that you just love to hate her. I have to admit, though, that there is something odd about 101 Dalmatians that keeps it off my Top 10 list of Disney films. Somehow I feel like it drags a little too much in some spots, but then it moves too fast in others. I think it might have served the story better if they had switched back to the human perspective occasionally so they broke up some of the long journey. Besides it would lend more emotional weight to the final scenes with Roger and Anita reuniting with their pets. That minor nitpick aside, this is still a delightful family film, and one that I'll gladly watch any time.
Martin T (jp) wrote: Meh. Ho-hum cat-and-mouse noir in which a truck driver gets imbroiled in a deadly heist and has to protect himself from the law, and his wife from the gangsters. The photography allows for some nice moments, but the plot is pretty formulaic. The real problems is that the lead actors Steve Brodie and Audrey Lane fail to inspire, they're too earnest and one-dimensional. Worthwhile for the cinematography, tense climax, and Raymond Burr. Otherwise kind of blah.
