Michael M (jp) wrote: A simple tale told well. Charming and captivating Gunless is a warmhearted western about a gunfighter bewitched by the people of a small town in the Canadian Northwest Territory. On the run from bounty hunters The Montana Kid (Paul Gross) tries his usual routine on the unsuspecting townspeople, but they are welcoming, inviting and friendly, something at odds with a character who has made a name for himself killing people. The small film evokes pathos with third dimensional characters making the audience care in the first frame about the town, the people and the long awaited gunfight. Played against the backdrop of a superb cast of colorful townspeople and bad guys,Paul Gross is at home with his character, a man whose fight is always with himself. He gradually lets the stunning Sienna Guillory inside his crusty exterior, creating real heat on the screen, rarely seen in a Canadian film. How else would they survive the winters?

Regardless of the story the visuality just keeps you hypnotized. performances are sure great, i especially like the grumpy old man, college professor. BUT, it just seemed to me that the director tried too hard like he was too concerned to to be cool and to get good reviews. all in all the story didn't convince me enough either.

Harvey Keitel plays an unnamed lieutenant with a troubled past and a serious drug and gambling addiction. This disturbing, powerful movie follows him as it all cones crashing down on him and eventually (and I feel glad that his troubles were now done) kills him. A 4.5/5 for me and a really good movie
