(ru) wrote: Dirty, absolutely macabre, and full of terror, "Saw" will certainly hold you by the neck to watch it closely, taking your breath away. A good film with the indicated cast: the performances of Leigh Whannel and Cary Elwes are intense, well elaborated and fit with the goals of this movie. Conformed by an excellent structure, the movie contains great ingenuity in its elaboration and Wan knew what the audience had to take. Removing the annoying action of camera and the unfortunate edition, in addition to the inconsistencies of the plot, this is an unpredictable story that is full of surprises, good use of gore and terror and an opportune execution that allows you to enter the mind of the murderer and the psychological feutures of the rest of the characters. A horror movie fan should seriously watch this film, because in "Saw" there will be found elements that few have developed, and whose outcome is simply the most uncomfortable but meticulous and jaw-dropping that one can not certainly find a comparison elsewhere. 79/100

I haven't yet reached the age of consent."All the elements that went into "Maltese Falcon" and "Casablanca" are here, but it proves only how far those classics rose above formula. This flick doesn't rise above the time it was made, in the months after Pearl Harbor. It's just a little lead foot -- Greenstreet is a little flat, Astor is a little unbelievable, Huston's direction is phoned in and the dialogue isn't as sharp as it first sounds to the ear. Can Bogey rescue a movie called "Across the Pacific" when the characters never even cross the Pacific??? Nope. They should have gotten Reagan for this one.Bonus round: you can spot the actor who played Cane's mentor in the "Kung Fu" television series! Grasshopper!!!
