Secrets of State

In France, terrorist groups and intelligence agencies battle in a merciless war everyday, in the name of radically opposed ideologies. Yet, terrorist and secret agents lead almost the same lives. Condemned to secrecy, these masters of manipulation follow the same methods. Alex and Al Barad are two of them. The former is the head of the D.G.S.E.'s (Direction Générale de la Sécurité Extérieure, the French equivalent of the CIA or the MI6) counter-terrorism unit while the latter reigns over a terrorist network, and both fight using the most ruthless of weapons: human beings.

David W (fr) wrote: Seven Psychopaths is a weird and wonderful piece of fiction, Martin McDonagh managed to hone an individual level of darkness and created characters that resemble the occupants of an insane asylum, more than the dwellers of the real world. However this is where the mastery lies, the progressive tone is schizophrenic, there is a mystery to these personalities and their sanity, which allowed the talented acting ensemble to let loose. Each performance had its own uniqueness, be it touching, disturbing, weird, narcissistic and sometimes all of these things at once. As you would expect, the characters collided like a car crash and despite all that, this mesh of madness was hilarious. Shockingly, I felt as if I was caught in the cross fire of their lives, but never have I been so comfortable in being unaware of how a film was going to play out. Seven Psychopaths is a true piece of comedy relief and if I had to describe it in one sentence, I would call it; "an organised mess of total comedy".

Al M (nl) wrote: A character-driven psychological thriller, Night Wolf features few of the tropes associated with werewolf or supernatural horror films. Instead, the film plays out like a home invasion film with a superhuman predator. However, the real horror is the family that is under siege by the forces outside: infidelity, substance abuse, and deceit provide the real drama and horror of the film as the characters all seem to fall prey to supernatural forces because of their own horribleness as human beings.

Nicki M (jp) wrote: Starts off interesting - then heads into harrowing. Seriously, I thought this guy was going to end up dead by the end of it. Very brave of him to tell a story that puts him in such an unflattering light to help others avoid drug addiction. I felt so sorry for everyone in this - everything his wife and kids went through, and for him himself, as obviously a lot of it was the drugs talking. Really good documentary, but not always easy watching.

Frances H (it) wrote: Not the funniest movie Leslie Nielsen ever made, but any movie that makes fun of the come-from-behind- to- win type sports story pic can't be all bad.

Danielle U (gb) wrote: Starts off a bit slow, but actually not bad. Not as good as Sorority Boys, but still a pretty good watch.

Bryan G (nl) wrote: This wasn't to bad for a cheaply made television movie. The movie is about the only successful escape from a Nazi death camp. The movie is thrilling and keeps you interested. Also Arkin and Hauer are really good in it. it's worth a look.

Gail N (us) wrote: Pitiful. Sure, a great performance but do you really want to spend two hours watching bloody violence and a man's life falling apart with no true happy ending. The reward mentioned in the critics' consensus is that the suffering is finally over when the movie ends.

Giovanni M (es) wrote: When I first heard of Any Given Sunday I wondered "why was I not shown this? My father showed me every football movie!" however after watching it I realized why, this is an Oliver Stone film filled with drugs, swearing, and everything not suitable for eight=year-old me. Despite this, I actually really enjoyed the film. The acting is great (except for Cameron Diaz who is just meh), the football scenes is exhilarating, and the pacing keeps you entertained throughout the nearly three-hour run-time. The only problem I had with it is that it peaks in the first game when it comes to the football scenes. For some reason none of the other games were as enticing. That aside, this is great movie for football and Oliver Stone fans.
