Sil A (nl) wrote: This is a masterpiece. Bla Tarr is a genius. Period. The philosophical premise is intellectually deep. The execution is the typical work of a master: so true to its visionary's grandeur that it is unique in every way. One can see the master's fingerprint on his work. Now this is not an easy movie to watch. It is deliberately slow, repetitive, dark, dry. That just adds to the power for those who will put the in work to reap the deep intellectual and artistic rewards. Most movie goers are looking for entertainment, nothing wrong with that. This film is not it! For those looking for a rare gem, like a Picasso in a museum, this certainly is a film for you to work on! As with any masterpiece the deep rewards are worth the heavy lifting.

Angadvir S (us) wrote: almost everything, from kareena kapoor's vulnerable desdemona, to saif ali khan's serpentine iago is so brilliantly portrayed here, that one almost forgets that the movie gets most of its brilliance only from Shakespeare's greatest tragedy...

Eytan D (au) wrote: Though it tends to drag now and then, "Death and the Maiden" is one of Roman Polanski's most effective films. Calustrophobia abounds, the writing is great, and the performances are top-notch. Sigourney Weaver puts the perfect level of fury and tension into her role that so obviously worked to tremendous effect with Ripley in "Alien." Ben Kingsley is top-notch as the doctor with a disturbing and questionable past.

The plot is silly, the acting is cheesy, and even the action scenes are laughable. But I must admit it gave me some good laughs...

Brad S (us) wrote: Finally got around to watching this Disney classic movie, the standard by which all other "dog movies" are compared. It is pretty decent, but I wasn't blown away. The direction and acting aren't that strong and it took some of the power of the story away from me. Now, had I seen it as a kid first, I would likely feel differently, more nostalgic. In any case, it's certainly worth a watch.
