The real-life stories of the Willie Handcart Company are spiritually awe-inspiring and frankly, tear-jerkers. Seriously, don't see this movie if you aren't prepared to handle misty eyes. Connection to the characters make this movie 5-stars for me and many others who watched, which is very difficult to do as none of us have endured the strife, pain, and affliction the members of the company went through in fighting their way to the Salt Lake Valley. A must see for members of the church and any who are interested in it.

This story definitely makes me appreciate that I live in today's world and not back then. In war, everyone was constantly putting their lives on the line, even the civilians, like in this film.

The atmosphere is top-notch, the acting is flawless, and there's more gore than you can shake a stick at. It has been said that at the end, stuntman Kane Hodder put live worms in his mouth as the resurrected body of Charles Forsythe, but the scene goes by so fast I don't know if anyone can see what's in his mouth. I've never been to prison (thankfully), but the depiction here seems uncannily realistic. The warden is a real scumbag, as are the rest of the staff of the prison. This was an Empire Pictures film, and each film they make never fails to amaze me. It seems that whenever Charles Band says something like, "Hey! Let's adapt a story from H. P. Lovecraft!", he makes the best Lovecraft movie EVER. I'm pretty sure he said something along those lines when he thought up Prison, and it's one of those movies that never fails.
Wes S (it) wrote: It's slow and silly, and doesn't have much of a plot, but it is fun. The monsters are cheesy, the sci-fi is great, and the cast is good. The story is a bit loose and confusing, and nothing really gets explained. Overall, it's a entertaining campy monster movie.
