Ollie W (au) wrote: I thought near the beginning that it wasn't as good as the first. But it did at some point get better and by the end I wasn't sure which I preferred.

Yeah, that wasn?t a complement. The story line isn?t horrible but it is so unlikely (even for a supernatural horror film) that it really pushes the disbelief suspension. The characters are a clich of stereotypical personalities that have been paraded through horror movies for decades. The actors that were tasked to bring these walking stereotypes to life do so with lots of gusto, but a minimum of actual skill. The SFX would work great for a 90s episode of Xena: Warrior Princess but for a movie release (even an independent, direct to DVD release) they are disappointing. The music score doesn?t do much, and it certainly doesn?t add to any of the action on the screen. I really can?t recommend using up any time or especially money on viewing this one.

Enrica C (au) wrote: I remember that when I first watched this movie as a little kid I didn't get its point, to me "Instinct" was just the movie where Anthony Hopkins ended up living with gorillas in Africa. I really didn't get its point, but then when I had the occasion to watch it again the other night everything made more sense. This is not a bad movie, it's filled up with meanings, just you have to be in the right mood to watch it or otherwise you might get bored by it. The ending is kind of disappointing, but all that's in between is somehow different and interesting to follow. All those gorillas scenes are kind of boring and unprobable but the whole psychological path we're lead into is with no doubt kind of intense even if it might seem ridicolous. "Instinct" contains some really powerful scenes that are a scream to freedom, rebellion, power, control and everything that's related to our modern society --- this is a very complicated subject, just put in the easiest of the ways. The couple Hopkins-Gooding Jr. is just amazing, the movie could not work without them. The script is good, the subject is strange... I would suggest you give "Instinct" a look. It's not the best movie ever made, it's not fantastic or great, but the general idea is peculiar for sure and there's a very strong message hidden in between scenes.

James H (mx) wrote: 68/100. Sean Penn's stylish direction is very effective in making this film work. Well photographed and visually appealing. Sometimes the slower pace works, but at times it drags the movie along. Very well acted, especially by Viggo Motensen, excellent support from Charles Bronson. The characters are interesting and get you involved in the film. Good score.

Orlok W (nl) wrote: The film makes a little sense but a lot of amusing noise--Revolution okay!!

Morten (nl) wrote: When I first saw it in 2007, it was the first dark Norwegian film I had ever seen and I thought it was a good crime film. However, now I have seen so many other dark films and it makes Izzat a bit too boring. It's still a good movie with a good depiction of the Oslo underworld

Anthony W (de) wrote: That was bad. I mean really bad.

Adrian B (br) wrote: Decent, somewhat disappointing iconic comedy in which three Russians want to sell jewelry possessed at the end of the Russian Revolution (which was in 1917). Their plans are thwarted when the jewelry owner's husband (Melvyn Douglas) comes to retrieve it, which in response, the Russians bring in their own representative (Greta Garbo), a stern, uptight national, to intervene. This results in a strange love affair between Garbo and Douglas. Some scenes are funny within this film, but like many other comedies during this era, time has taken off a portion of the fun. Garbo is the most memorable of the cast members.

Scott C (ca) wrote: An Edward Zwick film that I really don't care that much for. I guess I just don't really like the main characters, which makes a romantic comedy kind of pointless.

Daniel A (it) wrote: Perhaps not so much of a tearjerker as its reputations suggests, Dark Victory is still an emotional and well-acted melodrama with a big heart and sterling performance from Bette Davis. A strong ensemble cast rally around Davis, including supporting turns from Humphrey Bogart and Ronald Reagan, while director Edmund Goulding's well-paced and -executed telling of the tragic story saw the film to a deserved Best Picture nomination.

Al M (us) wrote: Hard to follow. All characters look the same.

David H (fr) wrote: A grandious Combination of Martial Arts, bewichting Fantasy, Eastern Philosophy and Dark Comedy which is written by Bruce Lee and James Coburn and stars Jeff Cooper, David Carradine, Christopher Lee and Eli Wallach as one of the freakiest Characters in Film History

Tehl B (ag) wrote: It was an entertaining enough slice of life film, but the pacing is glacier slow and I cared very little about the characters by the time the movie was over. This is a very average film.
