David L (it) wrote: One of the most simplest, yet compelling introductions to a horror film I have seen, followed by one big anticlimax. The plot was well worked and was playing upon people's greatest fears as they attempted to overcome a night in a haunted prison which harboured many tales of its horrific past, involving it's notoriously sadistic prison warden. The blend of characters worked well and as each endured their separate tasks, including being buried alive, summoning the devil, and being trapped inside a gas chamber, the tension was surely building up to something great......................or maybe not! Despite this gripping intro, one of our first death scenes involved the killer taking out two contestants with one jab of what seemed like a pen knife - how original! It didn't get too much better from then on in as the body count totted up, without actually seeing people die. It was like the special effects manager got the sack midway through the film leading the only element of tension to be brought about by the sound engineer! The token twist that all classic horrors have was overthought and in a sense over twisted as the ending kept taking a different direction every few minutes. It's a shame because despite the positive start, ultimately this anticlimax would deter a repeat viewing and in the words of shakespeare, it was much ado about nothing!
Erin G (it) wrote: I really loved the book and the details added into the actual story. I'm also a sucker for anything that is based off of the classic Beauty and the Beast story. Unfortunately the story was there, the effort was not.
Duncan S (jp) wrote: What starts out as a promising serial killer film, soon descends into an arty teen drama with three very unconvincing young leads. Two boys trap a serial killer into killing the boy who bullied them through school. Had the potential to be so much better
Tomas B (au) wrote: Many ppeople might find this movie cheesy, but I think it does a perfect job showing the "life of rave night" .... It's all about the nod!
Luc L (mx) wrote: The performances are more memorable than the storyline.

Brian S (jp) wrote: With some times crappy acting, dialogue and effects, The brain from planet Arous has developed a cult following and has because a sci-fi cult classic. I found it to be very entertaining and fun. It is understandable that with a small estimated 58,000 dollars they could not do much. Although it's story is a little ridiculous i still recommend this movie for entertainment and laughter.
Daniel V (ca) wrote: How is a movie that is supposed to be a horror/comedy, starring Simon Pegg no less, not funny or scary? This movie starts out promising enough, with it's wacky premise of a dark minded writer who becomes a children's book author turned crime novelist turned serial killer target. Huh? Exactly. In fact the only thing that kept me watching this flick past the halfway mark was Simon Pegg. I figured by that time, I may as well finish it. This movie is disjointed, boring, silly and just plain not entertaining at all. I see a runtime down there of 2 hours and 21 minutes, the one I saw thankfully was 40 minutes shorter than that, because this movie is terrible, absolutely terrible. But I still love you Simon Pegg.
Teemu L (br) wrote: Plot full of holes, stupid story, over-acting and under-acting and so on. Looks quite good though, scenes and landscapes are okey.
Dustin I (it) wrote: Well acted and disturbingly delicious, this is a steamy period romance with unfortunate results!
Matt C (br) wrote: This is pretty funny, the script in particular is mostly caustic and witty. Probably best viewed if you're just out of uni and the love story can probably be best ignored completely as we stray into 'Dawson's Creek' territory a little there...but hey, I LOVE 'Dawson's Creek'.
Phillip D (nl) wrote: Effective and affecting.
Scott J (br) wrote: I was surprised that I liked this, seeing as I hate origin stories. Pretty well done.
