Jessica A (au) wrote: Easily one of the worst movies I've ever seen. From beginning to end, it's nothing but stupid, to the point where it just stops making sense. The premise is actually pretty good and lures you into thinking this will be a good movie. The beginning is nothing but the old "Blair With Project" style, with a group of friends preparing to go on a journey. As soon as they leave, things start going downhill. Characters are poorly designed and at some point you find yourself wishing they would all die at once so the movie would be over. Dialogues are dumb, the plot is lost in so many random scenes and, once again, nothing that happens seems to make any sense at all. The end, however, sums up what this movie is about: not making sense at all. I wasted a good couple of hours watching this, and I hope you won't.

Bill B (jp) wrote: A surprisingly nasty little exploitation flick, I went into this expecting some shoot-em up type action, instead I got some brutal violence and a grim little story set in the jungle reminiscent of Apocalypse Now.Worth a look, but probably not for the faint of heart.

Daniel K (de) wrote: 2.5: It's odd to see Ford in this kind of film, because I associate it with an earlier generation of actors, but it works just the same. The collection of Bond and Indiana Jones alumnus, both in front of and behind the camera, was interesting too. I'm guessing the Bond connection was semi-planned due to Hamilton's involvement, but the Indiana Jones connections must have simply been a coincidence. It's a compelling story that doesn't go exactly where on expects it. I'll certainly have to watch the opening scene again to fully understand the trajectory of the picture. It reminds me enough of vastly superior films like Bridge on the River Kwai and the Dirty Dozen to keep things interesting, but in the end Hamilton just isn't quite up to the job. I will grant that he has the ability to make an eminently watchable WWII action picture (see Battle of Britain as well), but his pitiful showings in Bond films prove he is a less than fully capable director. The story and my interest in the period and these kinds of genre pieces does most of the work for him here for.

Simon D (ru) wrote: This is supposedly a true story, I wonder if the true story were influenced by Sister Act 2 and Dangerous minds, as this seems to be a mash-up of these two mediocre films. This has Hilary Swank in it who is a good actress despite how cringe-worthy some of her scenes in this are.

Jon H (it) wrote: Cage is a corrupt cop who is an unintentional witness to a major assassination at a boxing match and is determined to unmask who is responsible, if only for his only personal curiosity. The kind of thriller Hitchcock made a career out of, except Hitch never made it so sleazy.
