Mike L (jp) wrote: Scenic Route exceeded my expectations. With one location and two actors there's only so much that you think you'd be able to do, but the makers of this film prove that even with little content you can still make something thrilling and inventive. Also, the ending is absolutely bone-chilling and my jaw physically dropped. As an avid movie-watcher, jaw-dropping moments rarely happen for me anymore. Scenic Route is a crowd-pleasing, smartly written character study with commendable performances by Josh Duhamel and Dan Fogler

Edward O (br) wrote: It's a nifty concept but a total bore as a story. Why? Largely because it's pretty much the story of my own boyhood, except in real life my father was an even more extreme alcoholic deadbeat and my mother was even more supportive of my sister and I. So why would I want to watch that all go down again in a movie. I guess to someone with a "normal" upbringing it could pass as a dramatic story but it's still hard for me to appreciate this film as anything more than an ordinary "day in the life" of a person, except again as the gimmick that it's "12 years in the life". The only people I want to watch grow up is my real-life children. Now THAT is special.

Connor S (kr) wrote: If you want a completely generic movie with no redeeming or original ideas, watch this. The plot is about a generic teenager moving to a generic city and goes to a generic school and likes a generic girl and gets in a fight with a generic bad guy with a generic friend that helps him generically beat the bad guy. This is one of the worst movies I have ever seen, Never Back Down is just so unoriginal that it's extremely boring to watch. The fighting is pretty well done, but that can't make up for no character development, awful dialogue, and every clich imaginable.
