(es) wrote: I know this has awful reviews and failed to add anything new to the genre. But the Black Dahlia case seemed very interesting to me, so I might check this one out.
(ru) wrote: generally i like slow paced Japanese style, meditative movies ..I liked this one too, had no problem with length and story, which was somehow a realistic blueprint of everyday life that could be lived by any of us...however nor direction nor cinematography, an essential part in films like this didn't do it this time...
(au) wrote: This movie brought a lot to the table, in terms of imagination (which is particularily rare in today's movies), as well as sentiment and conviction... things that we would expect from Michel Gondry's work. Black tries to push his range with creations that don't typify his usual fare. I don't want to spoil the ending to this movie with my appraisal, because I believe it should appeal to each viewer's own terms.
(ru) wrote: When you don't know what you're watching, it's hard to care. Doesn't explain itself till about halfway through. In general, I dislike movies that obscure meaning behind gimmicks. Good thing the packaging is pretty because the writing's nothing impressive. The longest short movie in the world. Functions more as a tone poem, which would have worked has I once believed the emotions on screen. Multiple layers of story, but none of them are super interesting or saying anything new. Jumbled up, constantly repeating timeline adds nothing once you get what it's going for.
(gb) wrote: Very mature melodramatic movie about love and sadness. It is pure, heartbreakin gand above all really beautiful. This time it's not too sentimental but just shows the beauty of love and sadness it can bring. It will find a way to your heart, even if you think you don't believe in true love. And what a brilliant joke.... 'how are they called ... noodle models? no...nude models ;)

(ca) wrote: A masterpiece. A film that continually surprises (and shocks) the viewer while commenting on social mores and actually manages to be bitingly funny. A movie of welcome contradictions.
(mx) wrote: Dreary, depressing, hopeless - a perfect representation of existential despair by Hungarian director Bela Tarr, the closest director to Tarkovsky alive today.
(fr) wrote: Excellent !! Vampiros en la habana est mon dessin anime fetiche. Musique au top, voix en espagnol a tomber par terre, histoire a mourir de rire. J'adore ce film !
(ag) wrote: It?s an unusual western, and an unusual Elvis Presley film. More morose than I was expecting. The period detail is atrocious. The hairstyles are right out of 1960, not 1860. Still, it tackles some issues, and isn't a shallow film. Well produced
(de) wrote: A fine film, but don't want to see it again. I think it's ahead of its time, would have been rated higher back in the day. Watch it because of Renoir.
(mx) wrote: What it lacks in entertainment it makes up for with having interesting subject matter. The late Bettie Page tells her own story (via prerecorded interview) and it taught me a lot of things that I never knew about her previously. I would only recommend this for loyal fans of Bettie Page and/or documentary fans.
(es) wrote: Awful acting and too many stufpid scenes but nevertheless this movie has some inexplainable charm.
(ca) wrote: One of the best 90's slasher movie. The powerfull performances by the actors, mainly by Sarah Gellar and the sharp thrills that this movie bring to us are enough to construct this original story full of suspense.
