(au) wrote: I enjoyed this romantic actioner more than it seems others did. I thought Pine and Hardy played off each other extremely well; even better than they did with Witherspoon. Her character, although intelligent, came off as shallow and a bit unlikable, which is difficult to do when she is so spunky. The invasions of privacy and one-upmanship almost got to the overbearing point but not quite. This is mindless fun.
(br) wrote: Fantastic performances all around but suffers from a mainstream made film that could've been made into a fantastic crime drama.

(br) wrote: As far as brain damage goes, Rocky V is a shameful idiocy that cannot even justify why it was made, given how the whole family drama seems completely forced, the excess of sappiness is painful to see and in the end it all comes down to unnecessary, pointless street-fighting.

(jp) wrote: The movie was too ambitious for it's time. Director John Huston tries to create a unique film that can present it's themes with subtly, but the times were too constraining. Brando and Elizabeth Taylor create a nice pair on screen and give some of their best work. But the best thing about the movie is the cinematography. It is beautiful and enchanting, giving the film a sense of wonder, keeping in tune with its tone. It's ambition is admirable, but it's execution falls short of what could have been an exceptional film.
(it) wrote: Respectable war film, nicely produced. It has a tendency toward melodrama, but it had suspense, some good action scenes and i has a fine score. For the most part, the acting is good.
(us) wrote: Odd romantic tragi-comedy set in a pre-WWII Germany (though filmed during the war). Carey Grant is a radio correspondent who falls for burlesque dancer Ginger Rogers who's engaged to be married to an Austian Baron who's really an undercover Nazi agent. The film has some rather long dull spells and there is one particularly strange moment later in the film when Grant and Rogers are mistaken for Jews and nearly sent to concentration camps. Still, Cary Grant can make just about any film watchable and Ginger Rogers is her usual likable self too, which does make this film worth checking out, even if it's far from a classic.
(ag) wrote: Such a wrong movie. Old gringo's fantasy and boy becomes a man story. I like rustic Mexico scenes and movie has enough in it to keep interest. As fat selfish baby boomers retire I guess we may see more of these type of trash. I liked it. Deep in me has such fantasy too.

(de) wrote: A stellar cast and a compelling story. Our knowledge of the main outcome looms heavy over the first half of the film but makes for a gripping second half as everything falls apart. Despite some of the minor roles being important characters (like Hitler) they are unfortunately not played convincingly enough to show the real terror of the regime, but overall a good tense and enjoyable film.
