Amanda H (ag) wrote: This film has a ton of potential, and unfortunately does not live up to most of it. In the first half hour or so, I was thinking, "Hey, this isn't at all what I expected... and I like it!" Sadly, then it started to fall apart, and by the end of it it's just an endless string of weirdness that doesn't really have much point. Too bad, because it could have been a great movie.

Trevor D (es) wrote: If only Carpenter were half as interested in his characters as he were in quantum physics, "Prince of Darkness" would have been a fantastic entry into the canon of the B-Movie master. Instead, we're left with something lesser-- there's some wonderfully clever ideas at play here, some terrific scary moments and images, and Carpenter's overall direction, particularly his command of the impending-doom tone, are top notch, but the script (through faulty, sluggish structure and bland expository-filled dialogue) can never quite fulfill its necessary function. The ending is killer.

Wes S (mx) wrote: Drags out way too long and doesn't have a very strong plot. There are some pretty nice horror scenes though, but they don't really come up until the end, leaving the rest of the film to be a dull watch.

Nick A (nl) wrote: A post-war tragedy where nothing goes right for any of the main characters, all of whom dwell in poverty near a US Army base. Their major personal flaws and general detachment are periodically interrupted by emotional outbursts and impulsive self-destructive behavior. It's all quite disturbing really. The comic relief is unintentional, coming in the form of horrible amateur acting by the Westerners cast as members of the Army, which detracts from the mood of the film and the superb performances of the rest of the cast.

Steve H (br) wrote: Well the dance is great outside the saloon....but i just didn't enjoy it as much as some other Laurel and Hardy films. I think some of their 'short' films are more enduring, and funnier than the 'features'.

Angel G (ag) wrote: Pi is arguably the most bizarre independent first feature from one of the most acclaimed directors of our time (Darren Aronofsky). It's also sometimes frustrating to watch but very chilling thanks to memorable sound effects and weird cinematography. There is no denying that it's a smart movie, and also frighting since we have to hear Sean Gullette scream in pain for becoming mad and obsessed. What makes it more effecting is how it sounds from the camera. The music is what I like most of this movie, the score was fantastic. There are certain scenes in which it becomes extremely disturbing and Pi gives you an anxiety so big that it makes you feel scared. The movie is 1 hr. and 25 min. and it feels like 40 more minutes have been added to the movie. It's shaky camera is annoying and it's sometimes uncomfortable to watch. You kind of get exhausted from it. Pi is smart, its disturbing, its bizarre, weird, slow, chilling and not so confusing, but it's not for everyone.

Leon B (us) wrote: Review:What was Woody Allen on when he was making this film? I must admit, it's shot extremely well and he really looks like he's in some of the old footage, but the storyline is completely bonkers. It's about a human chameleon who seeks treatment for his weird condition. I really wondered what was going on while I was watching the film because it looked so real. The added commentary and interviews also made it seem really realistic but the storyline does go from one extreme to another. Watching Allen's character change into a Jew and a black person was cleverly done for a movie that was made in the 80's, but I was wondering what was Allen trying to attempt. It's shot like a documentary so there isn't much comedy but the concept is original but weird. I did stick with the movie because of the crazy storyline, but I don't know if I liked it or just thought that it was mad. Watchable!Round-Up:Personally I think that this movie would have been much better if he had some top class actors in it. The scene were Zelig was sitting behind Hitler trying to get his wife's attention was impressive and Allen played his character well. When all of his wife's started to pop out of the woodwork, the moral of the story comes into play but it's still a crazy movie. It's worth a watch just to witness Zelig change into different people and to see how he cleverly put the movie together. It does seem like your watching the History channel because of the old footage, but when you see Allen's face pop up in some of the shots, you realise that it's his warped sense of humour that created such a off the wall movie.Budget: N/ADomestic Gross: $12millionI recommend this movie to people who are into there Woody Allen movies about human chameleon, trying to to be cured of his condition. 5/10
