Alec B (nl) wrote: A spiritual sequel of sorts to Cronenberg's "Videodrome". While "eXistenZ" doesn't quite measure up to that film's grotesque genius, I do enjoy it's unique style and strangely erotic biotech/video game thriller plot.

Martyn M (ca) wrote: A decent film for the first two-thirds of it. Two space pilots are downed on an almost inhospitable planet after a dog-fight above the planet, the species are engaged in a war with each other at the time. After an initial round of hostility towards each other, post crash-landing, the two survivors start to develop a mutually beneficial co-operation that eventually develops into a close friendship. Robinson Crusoe has already met his Man Friday in this. The alien, convienientally for us, learning English quickly enough to make the relationship possible. It is noteable that it was the alien, Draco, who was the more merciful of the two to start with. From the birth of Junior Drac, which sees senior Drac expire, the story follows the education of junior Drac, a bit mawkish at times and a little lacking in wisdom as well: Why would Davidge have not taught Junior of the dangers of meeting other humans much sooner? Perhaps that would have ruined the story. And from the time the "scavengers" (Slave-drivers:notably humans again) arrive and inflict their brand of superior being brutality on Junior and Davidge, the film soon decends into a classical example of worst of B-movie: "Open the doors or I'm gonna blast my way out!" And he does. What from a military space station on your side!! The ending fight scenes or more like on old B-movie western. And this is what lets down an otherwise decent film.

James H (br) wrote: Not awful, but certainly not good. The cast is a plus, Mary Woronov is good. It has some spooky moments, but too often it is just stupid.

John T (nl) wrote: Shitty sisters kill shittier mom... Very life time movie. It was watchable, and the acting didn't suck, but that's about it. The story was not compelling.

Matthew H (br) wrote: He destroys everything! This movie is just a fun rompus-ride of action-badassery.
