Bill B (mx) wrote: I gave this one a spin in advance of listening to the Projection Booth Podcast review it, and it was very interesting, to say the least. We follow Chris Rock through the barber shops and hair salons, through the places in India where hair is collected for wigs, all as he examines the major industry of African-American hair care and what people are willing to do to themselves to look 'good'.Well worth a look, recommended.

Peyton C (jp) wrote: Taking the book's main character and turning him into an unlikeable little douche, this hurts the film.

Alex B (jp) wrote: sounds like year of the bordem..

Elise C (ru) wrote: could be more effective as a short film.

Renan M (br) wrote: The sequel to the amazing "The Bride With White Hair" doesn't really feel like a sequel. The script that isn't as strong nor is the plot which creates a different tone. The film feels rushed and it doesn't give the main actress Brigette Lin Hasia the right atmosphere for her to allow the emotional depth that of what her character left behind in the first film.

Dannielle A (ru) wrote: I wish Molly Gilmore would have got hit by the train. Then her husband wouldn't be with a cheater and Frank Raftis would go home to his wife and kids where he belongs.

Robert I (ru) wrote: Man, was this a disappointment. I am an avid, avid fan of the sequel "Revenge of the Ninja" and have been for many, many years. I could only imagine the precursor was more awesome. Not so! The humor isn't nearly as funny, the ninja are not magical killers, and the film's pretty boring especially compared to "Revenge". Sho also plays a different character WTF!?!?!? There is one great scene however in which the bad guys hire their henchmen. So that's where they get their army. Ahhhhh.

Eric R (mx) wrote: Lee Van Cleef is my personal favorite Spaghetti Western star. I saw most of his other films this wonderful genre before finally being able to lay my eyes up on Death Rides a Horse. The reason it took me so long to view as it only seems to be released on ultra crappy, public domain DVDs with cruddy transfers. My hopes became high when MGM released a high quality Region 2 disc and I crossed my fingers that they would bring that wonderful transfer over to the states. Well it's been five or six years and no dice. This is just one of the many films I'm fucking sick of waiting for from MGM/Sony to get off their lazy asses to release so I finally broke down and viewed one of the public domain DVDs. All I have to say I definitely saved one of his best for last. Our film opens on a rainy night where a group of five men break into a ranch house, rape and kill a mother and kill a father leaving their child alive. In grand Spaghetti Western revenge fashion the boy grows blinded by rage for revenge in a fifteen year span. Also in this 15 year span our character Ryan (Lee Van Cleef) gets released from prison also hungry for revenge against his partners that put him there. Lee kills a man who happens to wear the same spurs of one of them men that killed the boy's parents. When our young man gets word, he follows Cleef to get to the men but there is one problem, they both want revenge on the men so who should draw first blood? The interaction between our two characters is wonderful as though they both have contempt for each other, they each end up saving each other's lives on numerous occasions. Not only are the characters great but so is the directing by Giulio Petroni who gives the film a great atmosphere with his great camera shots. It's a damn shame that he didn't direct more. The problem that keeps this from being as good as Leone's efforts is some choppy editing. Also our young gunmen sees a red flashback or rage every time he sees a man that he recognizes from that rainy night. After about the third flashback it gets a little ridiculous and hokey. The "twist" at the end also isn't surprising and any viewer paying attention to the plot with pick up on it far before the end.Despite it's very few drawbacks, Death Rides a Horse comes out being one of the best films the spaghetti western genre has to offer and I would rank it only a small step below the Leone classics. It's that damn good. It's got a great cast, a wonderful dirty spaghetti western look, stylish directing, and an amazing score. Everything a spaghetti western fan asks for! No heroic John Wayne bullshit to be found here! I would even go as far to say Death Rides a Horse is my favorite Lee Van Cleef spaghetti western after his Leone films, even beating out Day of Anger and The Big Gundown. It's just a damn shame it doesn't have a proper DVD release. Please, please Sony bring Death Rides a Horse and The Big Gundown to DVD!

Robert H (mx) wrote: Inbred isn't the kind of film that will ever win any Oscars but it delivers on what it promises... lots of blood-soaked kills. This film is packed with gore galore and with enough quirkiness to make it slightly better than your typical uber gore flick. The characters are all pretty well defined which was surprising considering this type of film usually doesn't spend much time on development. But not a single person went out of character at any point. Of course, you don't really care for anybody in the film so it's not that kind of character development. But in a film where you actually want everyone to bite the dust whether good or bad, you kinda don't want to get attached to any of them anyways. My biggest disapointment with the film is the use of CG. Much of the blood in this film is CG and it's very obvious CG at that. Luckily some of the kills were fresh and those that weren't... well they were extra bloody to make up for it.If you like your horror films to be gory for the sake of being gory, Inbred is right up your alley and will surely entertain. If you're looking for a film with depth and meaning... go watch Deliverance again.
