Perhaps after his excellent but sombre Gomorrah Gianni wanted to so something wholly different. Regardless this is absolutely delightful, life affirming and hilarious. A perfect summer movie but unlike the Hollywood blockbuster it will remain with you through the winter.
Samra M (ca) wrote: It had the potential to be really good !!! The problems lie: - in the music which is ordinary and not needed - in the inconsistent story - it is neither totally for kids nor families !! - promotion and packaging as it made the movie blah and unappealing ...!!!

Renan M (ca) wrote: This film is hilarious! A insane satire of society, pop culture and politics. Much like "South Park" (the series created by the writers and directors Matt Stone and Trey Parker) the story uses hilarious satire to tell a moral while poking fun at ridiculous things in our society. This film uses real people as characters and creates fictional ones as the heroes that cause more damage than good much like the badly written characters in many horrible blockbusters that we always see in movie theaters.

Brian R (ag) wrote: Being a fan of the band Goblin, I was initially drawn to "Buio Omega" through its creepy soundtrack. As with basically every Italian horror entry in existence, "Buio Omega" is loaded with plot holes. It seems that Italian horror directors were never big on character development of any sort. The viewer is given the bare essentials and then it's on to the gore and extremities. However, this turned out to be one of the more coherent horror tales of the genre. As I stated earlier, the soundtrack is fitting and nervy, particularly the title track. The horror scores of Italian cinema, in my opinion, are unmatched. The basic premise is the dual conflict with the lead character "coping" with the loss of his girlfriend. Meanwhile, his creepy housekeeper deals with her own sexual desires for the lead character. While the viewer is not privy to seeing their collective descent into madness per se, we do bear witness to that madness acted out upon others. The gore turns out to be lesser than initially expected, but the scenes that are shown are visceral and unsettling. The scenes in question are few, but they are lengthy and visually striking or grotesque, depending on one's gag reflex. Overall, I think "Buio Omega" strikes a nice balance between being atmospherically creepy and visually unsettling while piecing together a fairly decent tale of the macabre, plot holes notwithstanding.
Joel K (it) wrote: Kay Lenz is stunning in this film. William Holden does a great acting job- I have a real soft spot for him due to his role in the book The Moviegoer by Walker Percy. Very 70s. Would have been more comfortable with the love story if Breezy had seemed mid twenties rather than late teens early twenties. You see Eastwood doing some things with shadow in this film that you can see in Unforgiven. Like that they go see an Eastwood film. I'd say the moral of the film is to just enjoy whatever time you have with loved ones.

William B (ag) wrote: The interesting concept is about the only thing keeping me from shutting off my TV right now. With Bruce Willis, Ben Affleck and Liv Tyler, I thought we'd be watching a pretty solid film tonight. I was wrong. Don't get me wrong, I was entertained at a couple points. But Michael Bay's cheap thrills and generic Hollywood plot tricks were endlessly frustrating. Just when you thought you'd seen it all, another "Deus Ex Machina" happens. Film leaves a bad taste in mouth. Maybe I need to start watching independent films that aren't motivated as much by revenue.
