Kyle B (br) wrote: Hopkins is always great and he was pretty much the most interesting thing about the movie. He was nominated for The Remains of the Day the same year but I would have found this more worthy for a nomination for him. Debra Winger is good too but overall it's just long and boring and uninteresting

Les E (mx) wrote: Each mini story within this movie is great. However it tries to tell too many stories about too many people spread over too long a period and so all impact is lost.
Donald W (ag) wrote: This movie was made when Bert Reynolds was in his prime. It's a movie about Hollywood stuntmen. It's an excuse to stage several unrelated stunts to set up one big climatic stunt. It's mostly a comedy with a serious side story about the competition among stuntmen. Hal Needham directed the movie. He was once the highest paid stuntman in Hollywood so this movie is really about him. Burt was dating Sally Field when the movie was made so she gets to play his love interest in the movie. She was still young and hot at the time. The movie tries to make you think that complex action sequences in movies are shot all at once. They're not. They are shot piecemeal and then put together by the film editor. If you watch this movie closely you can see all the separate pieces that are put together to make a complete movie. This movie is coming out on Blue Ray soon. I got it in a three disk package with Stroker Ace and Sharky's Machine. I was trying to buy just Sharky's Machine but they shipped me the Triple Feature. I think all these movies are coming out on Blue Ray soon and the original DVD's are getting hard to find but the Triple Feature package is still available.
