Neil R (br) wrote: Brenda Blethyn is brilliant as usual in this weird coming of age film. There were some pacing issues in the middle where it seemed to drag a little but over all it was very good.

Jason D (ru) wrote: I would say that this movie's saving grace was having the usually awesome Bill Moseley, Sid Haig, and Leslie Easterbrook, but the material they were given to work with made them look almost as terrible as this movie was about a newspaper editor who investigates an old house that may or may not be haunted and may or may not be connected to her and her killer father somehow. Whatever. This was terrible. All three of the aforementioned actors were terribly wasted on this film, and underused.

Tom K (jp) wrote: Excellent cast and group of characters; funny and sappy. From a 2014 perspective, some sequences felt disconnected and the viewer is left to fill in many unnecessary gaps; in addition, the characters of the son and daughter could have been developed a bit more to make you care about them. Other than that, it's as much fun as the first time I saw it back in the day.
