So Evil, My Sister torrent reviews

David M (ag) wrote: It's a heavy tale of grief and self-destruction told in an overly modern fashion. The editing leaves the film chopped to pieces with scenes coming in like a whirlwind with no context only to make sense later. Chronologically, tonally these fly in no discerning order seeking to challenge the viewer to stick with it. This approach is frustrating, but makes what is probably a pretty by the books story at least interesting (for a while.) It starts off heavy with this effect, but tapers off as the movie continues, like they lost faith in it. This provides a strong emotional disconnect from any character on screen. Matthew Goode works hard, but just doesn't have the oomph to really make the role soar. Even with the chopped editing, the film is overly long, and tonally all over the place. Its interesting, but very much flawed.

Critics who call this film bland, or complain of a lack of emotionality may have had their taste buds shot off in Hollywood's overblown war operas. Dutch director Martin Koolhoven's masterful understatement draws the audience into his characters rather than overwhelming us with histrionics and bombast. Nazi vehicles actually crash without exploding! What innovation!

Landon M (us) wrote: Shyamalan's first universally hated movie, and understandably. This movie is the pure definition of a mess. The acting (for the most part), score, and cinematography are all great, but what destroys this movie is the writing. The dialogue and plot of this movie is, to put it simple, atrocious. I thought the dialogue in the Village was bad, but noooooooo. There are some super cringe-worthy moments, that don't work even in Shyamalan-corny style. Some scenes are great, and others are just hard to watch. The last half of the movie is so confusing and hard to follow that it makes you stop trying to care. Overall, this movie isn't awful, it's just extremely forgettable, and it actually made me respect The Village more. 4/10

Sarah F (br) wrote: The Road movies don't age particularly well despite genuine chemistry between Hope and Crosby including some good banter here and there. The real reason I am intrigued by them and rate them higher then I might otherwise is the relentless self-awareness of the films and direct addresses to the audience. The films live and die on how well they wink and nod to the audience through jokes about their own plot conventions and the conventions (both artistic and as an industry) of Hollywood in general. The way the films play with their own artifice might not fully redeem the movies but they make them at least worth the occasional peak.
