Anthony I (ca) wrote: The dumbest buddy-cop movie of all time, and unfortunately, the worst Kevin Smith movie ever made. It's just offensively dull, cliched and scattershot. However, I give credit to Tracy Morgan for trying with all his might to salvage this mess into something remotely funny. He didn't succeed, but he tried.
Sol C (br) wrote: While the trailer for the film looks really good, the film itself disappoints. The film needed a major rewrite. There was a few funny scenes in the film. Matthew Broderick, Maura Tierney, and Brittany Snow were wasted in this film. The best thing in the film is Steve Coogan. He is hilarious in ever scene that he is in. He steals the film.

Plot points are under-explained (how the killer enters people's minds while they sleep, the logic behind how this happens etc.) while the script seems to be convoluted at times. Some of the unanswered questions that need to be resolved may be answered in the sequel that's set to be released. The movie still works as a horror movie, even if it's not perfect.

It's roughly made, hardly anything happens, Cube isn't the strongest writer, etc., but it does have charismatic leads and enough amusing antics to skate by. Despite the lack of polish, it did become a cult classic of sorts and a launching pad for several of its talents after all.

Robby K (us) wrote: Horror movies nowadays get a bad rap for being unoriginal and clichd even though the creators of these piss piles tried their hearts out. In this movie however, the filmmakers didn't even try, and if they did try, they need a new career path. Sarah Wayne Callies does actually attempt to do something with her role, but it doesn't even matter because the rest of the film is so bad, that you can't even turn the film into a drinking game, because even the most inebriated of people wouldn't enjoy this movie at all.
