Derek F (au) wrote: It was Connery's favorite Bond film because it was less formulaic and over-the-top than later Bond films. It emphasized genuine Cold War era storytelling over gags. It starts out strong introducing SPECTRE, drags a bit in the middle with a protracted catfight among other things but the third act is excellent. Tania is a Bond girl with personality, Bond's relationship with her is believable, Red Grant is a brutal henchman and the train fight (as well as later climaxes) are memorable.
