In this modern adaptation, the government socializes the economy following a financial collapse, but two industry leaders (Dagny Taggart and Henry Rearden) resist and plan to build a rail line to Colorado that could alleviate the economic turmoil of the country. While the acting is rather mediocre, to an extent it services the characters; which are cold and distant. Ayn Rand's writing is hard to translate to the screen, but this film does an admirable job. And while it fails to capture the grandeur and passion of the novel, this cinematic adaptation of Atlas Shrugged does convey the spirit of the material; delivering a challenging and thought-provoking political drama.

(kr) wrote: Over the Hedge features a community of forest animals awakening from hibernation to find a new development of homes and humans right next door. A raccoon desperate for food shows up and deceives the community of animals into helping him repay a debt to save his own life. This entertaining children's movie teaches a lesson about taking care of the environment and the true meaning of family. I recently watched Over the Hedge and highly recommend it! This movie is a fictional family movie that combines comedy, drama and life lessons in 1 hour and 24 minutes. This movie is one of the few cartoons that you can analytically point out debates about human waste and global warming. Although these things are never clearly stated, they are surely implied! I feel that the main purpose of this movie is to entertain, specifically its targeted audience, children. The colorful animations and realistic cartoons grabs the audience's attention. This movie did a great job in grabbing the audience's attention and then keeping it throughout the whole movie. One of the strongest points of this movie is the effective use of pathos. Throughout the movie patho is used to trigger the emotional side of the audience. With the consistency of showing human waste and the destruction of agricultural land, this movie does a great job pointing out certain problems in society. The audience will feel sympathetic towards the effects of human waste and no food will have on these animals. In this movie the human race is perceived as careless, wasteful, and harmful. It is used as a "mirror", showing the audience what we don't see about ourselves. The characters in the movie consistently aim to speak about society's problems in a simple and clear way. All of these methods were significantly successful in getting the audience to feel sympathetic towards the problems the characters are facing. Constantly showing the animals reactions to the effects of today's careless society, aims to gain sympathy towards these animals. Something not so effective about this movie is the outcome. The audience never really gets a clear understanding of what can be done to stop societies mishaps. There is an outcome in the morals taught about family and growing a sense of family. Overall this movie is worth the time and money. Spending time teaching children the lesson of this movie is highly recommended

(fr) wrote: This movie certainly met my expectations on a comedy scale, I laughed nearly the entire movie. The reason I found this movie so profoundly funny is because I find humor in the superficial, plastic lives that are lived in this movie. The students at Cher's high school, and I say Cher's high school because people treat her like it is hers, they have nose jobs by the age of fifteen. They attend parties with drugs and alcohol. They dress like celebrities and drive mainly expensive cars. They are so "clueless" it is hilarious. The romantic part of this movie is what actually gets me and makes this movie so comical. Cher and her best friends, Tai and Dee (Stacey Dash), have the most unrealistic fantasy of love and relationships. They search high and low for love and agree that it is the most important thing in their teenage lives. Dee and her boyfriend Murray (Donald Faison) fight like a mother and son. The downfall of this is that there is no actual romance in this movie. Cher and her stepbrother find love in the end and that quite honestly weirds me out. Not very romantic in my opinion at all. But, I was not expecting a high level of romance going into this teenage movie. Overall this movie met my expectations. The plot of the movie was creative and mostly predictable which is what caught my utter most attention. It was entertaining and the actors portrayed their characters well. The ending to the movie was unexpected and caught me by surprise. I definitely never expected Cher, high class pre madonna, to fall for her stepbrother Josh, a middle class nerd. If I could have predicted the ending of the movie, I wouldn't appreciate it as much as I do. The undertone of the jokes are crude and sarcastic. But overall I give this movie 4 solid stars out of 5. I believe this movie is a strong romantic comedy on a teenage level. The romance in this movie is immature and young and the main source of comedy. The collaboration of romance and comedy go hand in hand to complete this genre. I think this movie would quite honestly make a better teen reality television show.
