The film combines a very morbid subject with effective bits of comedy. It is touching, funny and poignant. The characters are very well developed. It's a wonderful film.

At the end I thought I was going to wanted to jump ship like I did when Dobby died in the 7th harry potter movie but it was the perfect bitter sweet ending. This is definitely going to be a rewatch for me. I love to watch movies, media is my life, this one touched my heart in a special way. Definitely suggest you watch this.

Instead this one-joke idea massively outstays its welcome. Cleese shouting at people for a half hour episode of comedy classic "Fawlty Towers" is one thing, but for an hour and a half it begins to get very tiresome. "Planes, Trains and Automobiles" did this premise MUCH more successfully. Obviously Cleese was just having a bit of fun doing this film, I doubt he took it too seriously

And although it's an unexceptional effort, the cast have fun with the material and manage to pull it off with a sense of redneck charm. A huge box-office hit, it was followed by 'Any Which Way You Can' (1980).
