Anna P (ag) wrote: Pleasant and warm and just a tiny bit eccentric. Filled with lovely little details that made me smile. Great music. Cinematography is lovely. The acting is wonderful. But that ending though... sigh...

Sarah S (au) wrote: Stupid story. Irritating main character. Dakota Fanning was the only good thing.

Randy P (nl) wrote: Not at all a fun time.

Brad W (us) wrote: The cast pulls the weight in the rating here.

Augustine H (fr) wrote: Despite based on a true story and good performance from Meryl Streep, the sorrow Nora Ephron has been through has never turned me on and I remain to be an outsider to look at this truthful depiction of a failed marriage.

Mark H (us) wrote: A very hard to find (as of 2012) film about two teenage girls trying to win a bet/dare by losing their virginity first. This movie is notable for the pairing of two of the biggest young female actors in hollywood at the time, Tatum O'Neal and Kristy McNichol. Although O'Neal won an oscar at age 10 for her work in Paper Moon, she appears to have left most of her acting ability behind by 1980. She isn't terrible, but when compared to the work McNichol does in this movie, there is no doubt who has the natural talent. The first 2/3 of this movie are barely average summer camp kid comedy stuff. What saves this movie and, in my opinion, redeems it is the work McNichol does in the final 30 minutes. Switching from summer camp silliness to (perhaps awkwardly) serious drama about the fear, anxiety, responsibility and intimacy of sex, this part of the movie rings 100% true. McNichol is emotionally naked, her tough-girl persona stripped away as she learns that sexual intimacy is not merely a physical act. It requires an emotional investment, and her scenes with a young Matt Dillon are powerful and genuine. Overall, Little Darlings feels like two movies. One, an average or slightly below average summer camp comedy. The second, an earnest examination of how truly terrifying sex for the first time can be. It's an odd mix, but the film is worth while if you can find it and McNichol is, at times, amazing.

Olivier D (au) wrote: A beautiful western about struggle between whites and Kiowas but also between two brothers because one is half-breed by his mother. An action movie with an emotional part.

Robert M (it) wrote: I like many of the people in this movie and only kept watching in the hope it would switch from ridiculously bad to being not so, and it never happened

Grayson W (ag) wrote: You have to go into this one thinking of it more as a PG kids horror film. It's rated R but there is no violence, tension or anything remotely scary. It's a fun movie from a PG perspective, but otherwise I would have expected more. (Minor spoilers ahead) I thought that with a name like "Trick or Treat", Halloween would be a larger focus. There is is a mediocre Halloween school dance, but it honestly might as well take place on any day. There are a few deaths but no gore; instead we get people turning into smoke, etc. The best part of the movie would be the highschool bully, who I thought the protagonist would get revenge on in a fun way. Instead the movie drops the bully angle and moves on without him. The love interest is also a girl the character had talked to about two times, so that dynamic was pretty flat as well. Normally these things I can let slide in horror films, but trick or treat doesn't have any aspect that makes up for it all. A bully revenge,a fun Halloween dance with fun costumes or some gory special effects; any one of these would have given the movie something to make it entertaining enough, but despite an interesting concept, it left me unfulfilled.
