Dave W (us) wrote: For a big budget super hero movie, there is something subtle about Batman Begins. The pacing is steady and the character transformation of Bruce Wayne in to Batman is given time to develop. The shots of the city and infrastructure of Gotham help paint the picture of the fantasy world while offering foreshadowing of events to come later in the movie, and later on in the series. The bad guys are also more subtle than in other super hero movies. The psychedellic elements of The Scarecrow character add a touch of horror to a franchise that is often considered dark, but in different ways.

Brandon W (it) wrote: Close Encounters of the Third Kind is directed and written by Steven Spielberg, and it stars Richard Dreyfuss in a science fiction film about a worker so saw an UFO, and when he starts seeing it, his mind gets weird and start to think differently. It's been a while since I've watched this movie, and I don't remember most of it except for the 5 notes of it and the aliens. So after watching it, Close Encounters of the Third Kind is a fantastic film. Richard Dreyfuss is great in this, and so are the supporting cast. It's unpredictable in the way that I wasn't quite sure if the aliens were here to kill the humans, or if they were the good ones. The effects still look amazing to this day, which I'm not quite sure how they did that since CGI weren't invented in that day. The direction and writing by Steven Spielberg is well done, and it doesn't go for the tropes that you usually see. The score by John Williams is impressive to hear, and the characters are well developed. Close Encounters of the Third Kind is an amazing film that Steven Spielberg does a great job in terms of making an alien film.

Barry S (de) wrote: Interesting that so many didn't care for this film whereas my family and I really liked it. It handles the runaway train situation by developing the characters and the interrelations between...most charming and appeals, others suspicious and unpleasant. It is well acted, well shot and well directed. I found it tense and likeable. There is certainly an audience for this, If you're looking for rock 'em-sock 'em nonstop action with heavy effects, this isn't for you. But if you're interested in seeing a tense situation developed with interesting, likeable characters, you'll find this a 4 star film.
