Amanda D (mx) wrote: Stuck in Love is, for the most part, your typical Romantic Comedy. It just has a better soundtrack than most. There is nothing overly great about this film, yet it is still a great watch. If anything, it's a great comfort movie for when you're not in the mood for a mind-blowing, brain-busting film.

Bert R (nl) wrote: A bit slow en predictable. But the good performances made it worth looking.

Glenn K (gb) wrote: The first time I saw this movie, I was so angry I snapped the disc in half. I felt the video rental store should have had some kind of a warning. Some movies are so bad they're good, but this movie is just bad. Probably the worst film I've ever seen, with ridiculous acting along with terrible props and effects. The only reason it gets half a star is because if you were on a sufficient amount of drugs, you could laugh at how bad it is. On the other hand, that would be a dire waste of drugs. You couldn't pay me to watch this again.

Jon P (fr) wrote: Bette Davis sports caterpillar eyebrows and dodgy dresses in Casey Robinson's caricature-friendly Now, Voyager; a film frankly far weaker than it's stars and sentiments. From a modern perspective, the concept of an unqualified ex-crazy offered a nurse job by her psychiatrist to care for, take camping, and kidnap the current-crazy child of her unrequited lover (whom she wants to 'always have piece of close') raises a few eyebrows. It sounds ripe for horror. Or at least a horror parody. But amidst World War Two, this sort of breezy I-love-you-so-much escapism was considered the epitome of All-American romance. Now, Voyager is laden with some sweet edits, fades and visual metaphors, but the screenplay is somewhat soggy and unfocused, let alone troublesome to take seriously. Everyone mumbles their way through deliberate dialogue in a is-it-or-isn't-it British-Tinseltown accent, but Davis' pedantic performance somehow rises above her material. It's a shame the same can't be said for assertive-eyed Paul Henreid and his double cigarettes.Davis' ugly duckling, Charlotte Vale, is a killer role, and the star has real fun with it. If you do go watch Now, Voyager, go watch it for her.

Brian H (ca) wrote: The main reason to see the film is to see the always fascinating Wallace Beery. It's the epic history of Pancho Villa, from his childhood when his father is killed to his life as a bandit to his friendship with an American newspaper man to his partnership with Mexican leader Francisco Madero. The film plays sort of like a history lesson with way too many titles to fill in the historical background. It grew a bit tiresome and I lost interest early on. But I still enjoyed Beery's lovable, gruff Villa and the excitement from the chanting of "La Cucaracha" and his signature "Shut up!" response. I'd only recommend this for Beery or for someone who is very interested in Mxican history.
