All the actors and actresses are especially performing well, making the movie so much exciting and real. The gas, the dialects, the variety of languages spoken in this movie are amazing!I especially love the cunnilingus scene over a gated windows. Very well thought, creative and heart throbbing. The gun shots are even better! As if shooting in a real gun scene.I must say all the parts paid tribute to the success of this movie.

(ag) wrote: Boring and nonsensical movie. No chemistry between the leads. Inane situations.
(gb) wrote: Despite the unnecessary presence of Wilem Dafoe, this is a frighteningly well told story about a man's quick devolution into becoming the monster that his father was. Nick Nolte is incredible as the man on this slippery slope and James Coburn is positively horrifying as his demonic, abusive father. It's not the slickest of productions but it is fitting for the bleak setting and even bleaker story.

(kr) wrote: Vietnam War drama, based on the true story of Air Force Lt Col Iceal Hambleton, who in 1972 was shot down behind enemy lines and lived to tell the tale thanks to his own ingenuity and a concentrated search-and-rescue effort by his comrades. In this version of events, Hambleton is played by Gene Hackman while Danny Glover stars as Cpt "Bird-Dog" Clark - a Forward Air Control pilot who acts as the link between Hambleton on the ground and the brass back at base. It's a race against time to get Hambleton out before a massive bombing campaign - intended to disrupt a local NVA offensive - flattens the area. This is a perfectly decent flick with good performances and intense behind-enemy-lines action but outside of the comradery that develops between the two leads over the radio (think Bruce Willis/Reginald VelJohnson in Die Hard), it doesn't do an awful lot that you won't have seen before. Pretty cliched too. It only takes one scene with Glover's happy-go-lucky pilot buddy to know he's a dead man!
