Spirits of the Dead

"Metzengerstein" features a Mediveal countess who has a love-hate relationship with a black stallion - who it turns out is really her dead lover. "William Wilson" tells the story of a sadistic Austrian student with an exact double whom he later kills.

I didn't have a choice in the matter! Shitty melodramatic girls' school ghost story. A chore to get through. The kissing scene is the only one worth watching.

(jp) wrote: John Glen's thrilling superior Bond adventure is a well-crafted and written adventure with Sir Roger Moore's finest performance as James Bond. The story concerns Bond being assigned to investigate the brutal murders of Timothy Havelock and his wife, who were aiding in the salvage of a British spy ship which sink with a top-secret encryption transmitter called A.T.A.C., that controls the British Polaris fleet of nuclear submarines and their ICBM missiles. The Russians are also trying to recover it, and are using a secret operative of theirs named Aris Kristatos, superbly played by Julian Glover. On his mission that leads him to Greece Bond encounters the beautiful Melinda Havelock, played compellingly by the ravishing Carole Bouquet, the revenge seeking daughter of the Havelocks. Bond teams up with Melina and a master smuggler named Milos Colombo, wonderfully played with great relish by Topol, and so the deadly race is on to recover the A.T.A.C. device. Astute direction by Glen, who gives the film some awesome action set-pieces, dazzling stunts, and amazing underwater sequences, the film also has striking cinematography by Alan Hume, with razor-sharp editing by John Grover, a terrific score by Bill Conti, and a memorable hit title song sung by the sexy Sheena Easton. Without doubt Moore's best outing as 007. Highly Recommended.
(au) wrote: Sooooo this is a really weird low budget crap-fest that doesn't let up on its invasion of your attention. This is really a fun movie to watch with friends maybe due to the less than B-Movie acting, or the weird Hitler type villain. I really kind of enjoyed this mad romp. This is my first horror film from the Philippines. The story line jumps everywhere and it makes this film that much more enjoyable. The movie has something to do with a group of Martial Arts instructors (Douche-bags) on a cruise to Spider Skull island or something like that (Warriors Island). Little do they know that on this island is where a group of really insane, and im talking bat shit crazy, monks control the Zombies of past fierce Martial Arts Warriors. What gets defecated on to film is one and a half hours of Exploitation and general craziness. If you are a hardcore fan of scary movies this really wont do anything for you as its not very scary and has minimal amounts of fright. It does have buckets of blood and gore and really cheesy kung-fu scenes. All of this + some of the best mustaches on film, give this flick a 5 out of 10. A Smile a Wink & a Nod Sid
