Michael R (ag) wrote: By far one of the most touching and beautiful works from Malick. My personal favorite. Although the film is in his traditional wide, ambient style, the movie feels more deeply focused than it appears. It beautifully narrows in on a central theme as the movie progresses and the peak of the mountain draws to a close in the last shot.

Andrew L (es) wrote: The Moth Diaries is one of those adaptations where the book may be better than the movie. The story is an interesting, and slightly puzzling one but it just doesn't work as a movie. That being said, the movie is a beautiful piece of imagery. The imagery throughout the movie makes up for the somewhat weak dialogue and that is a good thing, even though it does make it a bit of a tough watch. However one of the best things about this movie was the mostly all female dynamic. To me, the movie seemed to break barriers from the typical male driven idea of an all girl school, in a horror/thriller setting. As for the cast, they were very good in their roles. Sarah Bolger was the best but it seemed like everyone had good chemistry with one another.Unfortunately, the good things stop there. While I liked the imagery and the direction, everything falls flat in the first 20 minutes. I don't want to say I forced myself to watch The Moth Diaries but I can't say that I wanted to watch it either. Definitely not worth the watch.
Heather M (ca) wrote: I am very ashamed to admit to watching this one. It is a bad sequel missing the original cast. The plot of course takes cares of the Elle Woods connection so the movie can keep the franchise name. It isn't a completely horrible movie because there is a happy ending for the girls, but it wasn't a very involved movie.
Jess B (fr) wrote: This was a very well made movie. Completely real looking documentary style. Unfortunately, it wasn't that interesting. The idea seemed unique but the story got slow and predictable.
Alan V (jp) wrote: Must EVERY Asian horror film be about a murdered schoolgirl seeking justice? I mean, come on. That said, this is lame, predictable and poorly shot.
Michelle C (gb) wrote: here i go again with my kate winslet films =) it's an old film i know but its one of those indie films that again makes you think about what you're doing with your life. the thing is we all search for something, what it is, only we know when we find it. and sometimes what we find is not something we had hoped for.
Brian C (ca) wrote: Nice anthology of short horror stories (with stellar casts) tied together by John Carpenter himself. While the stories aren't terribly original they are done well. The first story at the gas station is the best. However, seeing Mark Hamill be completely insane was a wonderful treat. There is some slick humour in here too, and lots of nods to Haddonfield.
