(ag) wrote: Space Cowboys is a decent film. It is about a retired engineer is called upon to rescue a failing satellite, and he insists that his equally old teammates accompany him into space. Clint Eastwood and Tommy Lee Jones give good performances. The script is a little slow in places. Clint Eastwood did an alright job directing this movie. I liked this motion picture because of the action and adventure.
(fr) wrote: Great movie. Basically this is "Friday" before "Friday" ever came about. It's 4friends on a Friday night with nothing better to do then go out partying. It's funny but gets dramatic at some parts. (good movie to watch with friends)

On the one hand, it reminds me of 80's movies like High Spirits and Transylvania 6-5000, which weren't totally good, but charming and fun. On the other it reminds me of something like Eating Raoul. It's so bonkers and off the rails that you simply can't take it seriously. It's infamous for being a commercial and box office bomb for Sam Raimi and the Coen Brothers, but to dismiss it completely and all the fun that it has would be wrong. It's a fun movie, and it deserves to be remembered that way. I'd recommend it, especially to Sam Raimi fans but others as well.

(nl) wrote: INTENSE DRAMA, WITH A STAND OUT PERFORMANCE BY KATHLEEN QUINLAN, A BIT OF A DOWNER, ON THE MELODRAMATIC SIDE, A LITTLE EXTREME AT TIMES BUT WELL WORTH WATCHING. I WAS MORE IMPRESSED WITH IT IN 1977. BUT, STILL GOOD.

(jp) wrote: A somewhat conventional story of jazz musicians- Cassavetes still manages to make an unforgettale movie experience. The excellent acting, a trademark of cassavetes' working style, carries the film. Stella Stevens is engrossing on screen. This film is small yes, but it has human dignity, intelligence and intensity.
(jp) wrote: Sissy Spacek does a portrayal of the country legend singer Loretta Lynn. The story begins with her 13 year old proposal from her Dolittle Lynn (Tommy Lee Jones) and covers her rise to one of the most known presences in country music. Spacek's performance is impressive as she did her own singing as well. The Coal Miner's daughter is the story of the ultimate American dream of starting from nothing to being a star. The film is a fine music biography and features solid performances.
