If you wanted to make an investment, you would first research the venture, wouldn't you? So, I take time to research a desirable title and then watch a trailer or head to the usual internet staples such as IMDb or rottentomatoes just to make sure I know what I am about to get myself into. But here I was on a quiet Sunday afternoon flipping through the VOD options when I stumbled across the icon for Inkubus. I thought it was a safe bet. After all, it listed Robert Englund (Nightmare on Elm Street), William Forsythe (Dear Mr. Gacy, Boardwalk Empire) and Jonathon Silverman (Weekend at Bernies) on the one-sheet. Surely there must have been something there to lure three known B-actors to the project. Surely. Inkubus takes place in an old police station about to be demolished. The police have a man wanted for a woman's murder handcuffed inside when Inkubus (Englund) appears at the station holding the head of the deceased female. Inkubus is calm and confident and the police immediately misrepresent his 'turning myself in' intentions. As the police begin to interrogate the Inkubus, he confesses to crimes that date back centuries. That is when retired detective Gil Dimante (Forsythe) is called in to help with the interrogation. Seems the Inkubus and Mr. Diamante have some history that Inkubus is eager to settle. Unfortunately for the remaining staff of the police station, the journey to the film's conclusion will be filled with gruesome displays of murder and magic that leave not only the characters, but also the audience, scratching their heads. Inkubus was a straight to DVD/VOD release and it is clear why it was not given a chance to disappoint theatrically. The whole piece from beginning to end was a mess. The story was as weak as an Olson twin on a hunger strike and the production values - in particular the sound - was unforgiveingly bad. Each line sounded as if it was dubbed in an empty school hall and if not for the talented cast trying their best to overcome the inferior production values, I would have likely turned this mess off within minutes and chalked it up to a bad investment. Surprisingly, the main cast come out of the experience no worse for wear, in particular Englund that shows he has acting chops even when not donning prosthetics that turn him into a burn victim that haunts teenagers on Elm Street in their dreams. Still, a salvageable performance or two is hardly cause for a celebration. Writer/director Glenn Ciano had some pull to get Englund, Forsythe, Silverman and Joey Fatone to the location shoot every day. But whether this still novice director has any true talent is yet to be seen.

Robert H (mx) wrote: While I realise this was made for TV it doesn't change the fact that this was the worst piece of crapola I've ever watched. I knew it was going to be pretty lame when it opened on a scene of two archaeologists who just found a great discovery of an indian burial ground but I never could have predicted this. The monster, while being ok in concept, is just a guy in a Hallowe'en costume. I don't think anyone made the costume or did any makeup... I think they went to a costume store and purchased a cheap Hallowe'en costume. That I didn't mind so much as this monster does go around killing people with some OK physical FX shots. Unfortunately, there's no reason for the killing. He just does it. The film tries to "justify it" via an old "native american" in the forest but the story he tells doesn't fit with the rest of the film. There are plenty of explosions but either they are footage from another movie (as they're the best parts of this film) OR the filmmakers blew the entire budget on those unrelated scenes. The "soldiers" are all wearing civilian clothes and have no idea what they're doing. They are the most undisciplined, idiots, ever to not wear the uniform... but they're supposed to be the best of the best elites.Nothing about this film makes sense. Anything you might overlook just has you shaking your head at something else. What Michael Rooker and Casper Van Dien are doing in this film is beyond me. I think this was a film made on lots of favours being turned in cause absolutely nobody seemed to know what they were doing and when Michael and Casper are the best things about your movie... that's not saying much.

Tim L (de) wrote: As a person living with a mental illness, I would like to recommend the movie, "My Sister's Keeper". This is a movie that follows two sisters, with the older sister "Krissy" having been diagnosed with schizoaffective disorder, from childhood all the way through middle age. Although the younger sister "Judy" had great difficulty accepting the behaviors and actions of her Krissy while she was suffering from symptoms related to her mental illness, she could not deny or dispute her connection with her sister. At one point Judy wanted to deny Krissy her autonomy and came across as embarrassed, controlling and stifling. This reaction was likely due to her mother's influence on dating back to their childhood. Their mother held back her true feelings, seemed ashamed of Krissy and hid her disorder from everyone she could. Despite the reactions by her family, Krissy showed her ability to live a robust life, make her own decisions, live independently and charmingly verbalize when she needed psychiatric attention. Judy seemed double-minded in that she had one foot on one side of the fence, and the other foot on the other side when it came to including Krissy in her life. It seemed that the only thing she was sure about was capturing Krissy's life through portraits. Krissy was less restricted by the mental illness than Judy was, with Judy even saying "You've lived what I have only been able to paint". In the end, after gaining strength from a support group for people with family members who have a mental illness, Judy appeared more content with her sister's diagnosis and its effect on her life. Krissy's contentment with her own life and her ability to live and persevere, finally allowed Judy to open up her life and friends and work to Krissy and everything that Krissy stood for. To conclude my review, My Sister's Keeper although somewhat of an idealized portrayal of family relationships with in a mental health paradigm, the thought of a family relationship where accountability is reciprocated resulting in respect and love for one another is appealing to the point that one strives for such a thing in ones own life mentally ill or not.

Was it the woman keeping a secret from her lover for so long, or him going along with the stupid behavior, or the daughter's reaction, or the fact no one noticed except the Japanese cook? Unrealistically stupid from start to finish. The only good part was the painting at the end.
