Stiff Upper Lips
Stiff Upper Lips is a broad parody of British period films, especially the lavish Merchant-Ivory productions of the 'eighties and early 'nineties. Although it specifically targets A Room with a View, Chariots of Fire, Maurice, A Passage to India, and many other films, in a more general way Stiff Upper Lips satirises popular perceptions of certain Edwardian traits: propriety, sexual repression, xenophobia, and class snobbery.

Unfortunately, there's nothing else to redeem this film; the characters are totally unlikeable and with such a low standard from the start, it's unbearable to sit through at times. Utterly reprehensible.

The movie kind of played out like a more violent episode of the Ghost Whisperer. Minus the whole crossing over aspect. Although the dead did have unfinished business with the living. This movie had a very simple plot and the main "twist" can be either predictable or not depending on how much attention to detail you pay in the early going. The story carried itself well and most of the loose ends were tied by the end of the movie. Overall a decent flick and wasn't a waste of an hour and a half on a boring day.

Watched this first time since I was a kid thinking it would suck cause of idiot critics, but turns out to be great. Lots of heart. Tear jerking scenes. Awesome action. Great one liners. Great pacing. Memorable characters and scenarios. Really pumped up after watching this

After watching it, I'm sure this is the type of movie that just clogged up TV airtime in the 1970's. It's barely, if at all, a footnote in the careers of Gregory Peck and Sophia Loren, heck, this is barely a footnote of a movie anyplace. But that's not to say this movie is not with its charms.A university professor (Peck) is summoned to a mysterious man's dwelling to decipher a piece of Egyptian Hieroglyphics for an unknown reason. Then a mysterious lady (Loren) appears, with her OWN hidden agenda! Soon, implausibility after confusing implausibility emerges, it's all somewhat of a mess, but it's sort of fun, actually. Peck is amusing in his vastly overwritten role as a University school teacher who suddenly knows everything about spy sleuthing, it seems. And Sophia Loren, is, well, Sophia Loren. It's funny watching her figure everything out for us when she'd be the sort of the last person to ask. It's also fun to watch all her costume changes from scene to scene

SO MANY WAYS TO TAKE A LIFE.Hello Kiddies your pal the crypt-critic here, with a treat you'll love to watch on Halloween night. This is one of the greats and I heat there maybe a sequel and if so I'll see it,I hope it comes real soon. This independent horror film revolves around Four interwoven stories that occur on Halloween: An everyday high school principal has a secret life as a serial killer; a college virgin might have just met the one guy for her; a group of teenagers pull a mean prank; a woman who loathes the night has to contend with her holiday-obsessed husband. The plot is not realistic,it's like a scary tale you tell your group in a campfire. The tagline is a fun little rhyme to what the movie has to offer(well except for the poison part)it makes for a good one that suits the film. The movie is so original it's own unique thing celebrating horror and Halloween. The story flows well having it make connections to some of the four stories that all around to making them about by having characters meet or die by one another. The story unfolds with action of what's going with this individual and can make it out to look like a horror comic book which is pretty cool. The points of view is through characters and action, the characters each have their own tale and the action happens through the stories which is how it all flows nicely. The settings are very appropriate for a horror film, you got a lake,Halloween store, woods, and creepy houses. The settings do sustain the mood for the film and the music helps the film in some sequences.Trick 'R Treat has all the elements of any horror film,it has vampire and werewolves, killers, creepy story, great scares, some laughs and lots of fun. I totally recommend this for Halloween. I give Trick 'R Treat a five out of five.

However, this film still manages to have some entertainment value in it for older audiences with Kevin James actually shining pretty brightly in the role of the titular...well, Mall Cop and serves as a bit of a refresher for those seeking for a more family-friendly non-PG-13/R Happy Madison production. All in all, not really a winner in its own right but not exactly a loser either.
