Believe it or not, though, Edge's acting is totally competent (aside from in the opening scene, which is where they pulled most of the clips for its awful trailer) in what, admittedly, isn't the most difficult role. Kennedy has one ham-fisted scene, but is also otherwise acceptable in his role.
Sean C (fr) wrote: About as bad as cheaply animated straight to DVD tie-ins to video games get. It's fun to watch drunk with friends but just mind-bogglingly horrible from a creative standpoint. Cardboard characters (who we're supposed to believe are brilliant scientists, engineers, doctors, etc.) sling insipid one-liners at each other and drop the F-bomb relentlessly while a series of inexplicably stupid decisions propel the plot forward. What a travesty. The acting wouldn't be fit for a Syfy movie and the animation/script teeter on that cumbersome line between "Reboot" or the old "Beast Wars" cartoon with a dash of Todd McFarlane and "blink and you'll miss it" violence. Do yourself a favor: Play "Dead Space 2" and just stick to that.

Jim H (ru) wrote: An ex-con with dreams of starting a new life reunites with his son.In 1993 it was impossible to view this as I see it now: Jeff Bridges was practicing for his role in Crazy Heart. Everything that is good about Bridges's Oscar-winning performance is in American Heart, the music, the quiet desperation, the emotional depths to which he sinks, and of course, the hair. Edward Furlong, whose voice seems untutored but natural, matches Bridges in intensity. However, I thought that the story was predictable and the plot contrived. You know the ending as soon as you meet Rainey, and the film doesn't tell us anything new about troubled youth.Overall, the highlights are the stars, who give emotional and committed performances.

In order to succeed the portrayal of Ray Charles, a blind musician named one of the best entertainers, Jamie Foxx have to keep his eyes close throughout the 2.5-hour long film. His successful performance resulted to be stunning and the best of his career for doing such challenge (hence his win for Best Actor).Jamie Foxx is the main attraction/spotlight and the center of the enjoyment of the film, despite some moments of Ray's life that was hard and unappealing to watch (there was even predictability on how he was sometime treated when he was blind).
