Michael L (br) wrote: Abbas Kiarostami's LIKE SOMEONE IN LOVE is definitely not one of his better excursions into the complexity of modern society. Typically filled with secrets and subterfuge, LIKE SOMEONE IN LOVE will make you ask yourself, "Is Kiarostami simply remaking the same film over and over?" Sometimes it works and sometimes it doesn't. This time it doesn't with way too much banality but worse, it made me totally reconsider Kiarostami's entire oeuvre in the worst way.

Christopher L (it) wrote: "Humpday" caught me by surprise. From the film's trailer, I was expecting to laugh, yes, and to maybe feel incredibly uncomfortable. I got both of those things, to be sure, but I also got to really know these characters. The masculine male head-to-head, the challenging of one another almost constantly and the relationship between Mark Duplass and Alycia Delmore, who play newlywed husband and wife, are all magnificently well-done. Joshua Leonard is the real highlight here, as the long-lost friend of Duplass' who shows up in the middle of the night and throws a wrench into the works of Duplass' by-the-numbers life. I loved "Humpday", and I can't wait to see it again.

David A (nl) wrote: Definitely not Miyazaki's best offering, but "Ponyo" is pure enough satisfy those whose having a bad day or needs a realm to escape to. It's magical and colorful. The film's only weakness is the lack of antagonist. Without any sense of threat, then what's the point of us caring for our protagonists? Kids will love it, but for adults, they will probably snooze right through it.

Mario R (jp) wrote: Interesting plot... some good scenes as when the fundamentalist hatred-proning church are opposed to the 'good' loving church... yet there are several weaknesses and contradictions... Is it defendable to prone revenge/self-justice (like in the last Jody Foster film) and condemn homophobia and fundamentalism at the same time? well... it remains a watchable tv-film.

Richard D (fr) wrote: I don't think I can really pretend that this is a good movie, but I really kind of loved it. It's ridiculous, but really so ridiculous it approaches sublime. If Paul Verhoeven had made this, it would have been a masterpiece. I love much of Richard Rush's work, but he doesn't seem to have been completely comfortable in 90s erotic thriller land. He does make something that's kind of like an American giallo, but it's too awkward and shambling to really be great. Wortha watch though at minimum just to appreciate how crazed the plot gets.

Bill T (nl) wrote: Highly controversial when it came out, but somewhat giggle inducing today, both intentional and unintentional, Making Love is all about the perfect couple, Claire and Zack, Perfect jobs, perfect house, perfect lives UNTIL... Zack has an affair... WITH ANOTHER GUY OMFGWTHBBQ. This is the first "Serious" movie about this topic, and although there's some definite problems with the script (The fact that Zack may be bisexual? and Zack's love interest, Bart seems nothing but a total whore) big points for trying. And it also gets unintentional early 80's hilarity of seeing stuff like betamaxes, big screen tvs (with you know, the projector in the middle of the room) and of course, the classic arguements about stripes in the toothpaste. Why can't it JUST BE WHITE?? Classic.

Aleksandar J (ru) wrote: Sasvim sigurno najneobicniji film Vitorija de Sike, jer pored njegovog standardnog neorealizma, beskucnika, sirotinje i slicnih stvari, ovde imamo film koji je u sustini fantazija jer se pojavljuju nekakvi andjeli i neka golubica koja ispunjava zelje i svasta jos. Odlican film, vrlo zabavan i duhovit, prepun specijalnih efekata (!?). Njusim da bi ovo mogao da bude jedan od omiljenih filmova Emira Kusturice.
